Clutchs, is less better?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89kE6mcF2JM---- F1 clutch

Was watching this and got to thinking,7 plates, 4 fibers, 3 metals ,3.9" di, (CF). total wt of 2.2 lbs, Lightest possible to rev to 19,000

Seen these Clutch spacers over at Ward Preformance,

httpwww.wardperformance.comclutch%20plate%20elim%20kit.htm
Clutch Plate Eliminater Kit, 3 Alum, 6" di by 3/4", 1/2" Spacers.
Just wondering if anybody has or is running these , 19 plates seem like a lot for Dragracing, running a lock-up.

it all comes down to surface area multiplied by pressure.

in other words you can hold the same amount of torque with half as many plates if you double the pressure

the downside is that you now have half as much clutch material to absorb the heat! and everything wears out twice as fast. maybe even faster when compounded with the higher temperatures. but, when you have an f1 budget, things like that don't matter.
