KCadby or others: map change w/monster snorkle?
KC: you have done on, off, on again tests with the monster snorkle? I had a custom map done on a DJ250 w/link and got a nice brown in the exhaust tip when running WOT in 6th. Unfortunately, the snorkle arrived the day I got back from my dyno work (3 week delivery???), so it was installed too late to get incorporated in the custom map. Now I get soot in the exhaust tip but only after WOT operation.
Q: what would you do to the map (only interested in 80 &100%, 8000 - 11,500)
thanks

Snorkle Results
So,
Share more info about the snorkle please.
How easy was the install... did it fit well?
How much weight do you figure you lost?
Can you feel the ram air differance at high speed? (I know... tuff question!)
Will you be doing a post-snorkel dyno? (I know it won't be totally accurate, due to ram-air effects).... but it would be nice to know if it improves the static power at all.
Posst some pics please!

The snorkle was not bad to install, They apparently forgot to drill the holes on top which take the rubber grommet for the fairing inner covers push down fastener.
Weight saved?? not much, but some. Looks good, if you like CF. I don't particularly like CF looks and bought for performance which I haven't gotten yet. Did top end before snorkle, 201. After snorkle, 201.
BUT, BUT I feel that the upper end of the map needs to be modified, thus my question to KC or other tuning wiz.
Would I buy it again, NOPE, not unless some map mods can bring up performance.

Hi entropy
The bike had a funky map in it (too long of a story to get into right now) when we intsalled the Snorkel and re-mapped for it the first time...
SO...I can't say how much the map was changed...because of the snorkel...
Wish I could help you more but...I'm being honest...

thx KC,
Q1:
Could you just give me the numbers for 100% at 9000. 9500, 10000, 10500, 11000, 11500. just for directional hints.
Q2:
I would bring my bike to a dyno (DJ150) here in Space City, but the sticker on the MT said NOT FOR DYNO. Whatta ya think, just a couple of 4th gear pulls? Does the dyno really do something nasty to a MCR2???

We've MAPPED the bike with the MCR2 tire more than once with no trouble...it DOES get kinda sticky though
Here's the #s
9,000= 4
9,500= 7
10,000= 3
10,500= 0
11,000= -2
11,500= -2

timing
I pull 3 degrees at the top end too. Pulling timing actually helps in the real world for top speed runs, but adding a couple degrees makes more power on the dyno. Go figure.
