Yep, also curious.

On another front, I split the new ZX10 cases yesterday, and will be sending the head and a piston up your way tomorrow.

Cartridge transmission! So cool.

Karl, its been on the back burner....

Took it to the track and Rickey made 2 passes... the gear was way off.
It went 8.13 @169 with a slow 60ft.
The dry sump is working well.

Dean, I got the head.... lazer scanned the piston... sent the piston off..... I'll be in touch.

Karl, At this point I dont have a full plan of events figured out yet but were planning on Loring and Wilmington... we are going to do more drag racing this year as well.

Some time in the next few months I'm planning on spending several days on the engine dyno testing a bunch of new parts and stuff for it that are in the works.

Dean, Rickey was saying there is more mph in it once we get the gearing and shift points right. We were shifting it 15 hp below peak so at the shift recovery rpm it was 25 hp off peak.... not even close to what it should do with the right gearing. The bike doesn't have an auto tranny. We cant run one because we are land speed racing it and have to be able to ride this thing back 1.5 miles from the end of the track.

I think we may go back to the regular pan for drag racing and just use the dry sump for the LSR events.

more like 2.5 mi back from the end of loring

Like doug says, why go away from dry sump for drag racing; just to save a few pounds?

Weight.

I'm looking at ways now to take 100 pounds off the bike to compete with the big motor grudge busas.
A grudge busa is 385# where as this bike is 493# as it sits now.

The dry sump is way better for oiling but the added weight is substantial. I think I can get away with the 2" pan for short 12,000 rpm bursts drag racing.

Theres the added oil.
The pan... its quite heavy.
The added electric water pump and associated hoses etc.
The dry sump tank and associated hoses etc.
The scavenge pump and side plate.

I didnt weigh all the components compared to a 2" pan but id guess its at least a 30# difference.

front tire 90 580 17
if you get a race scuff, the sides are already lightened a little bit extra
