well i am wondering if a bike engine has enough to spinn it below 9000rpms LOL. that looks as big as my jetta diesel turbo. though it was only 70hp or so.....

its not that much bigger than the one im using. the turbine is bigger on this, but its also devided where the one on my bike is not, so a properly designed header should help it spool.

Gee Scottie what are you putting that on?I have a brand new turbosmart wastegate never mounted and a innovative msbc-1 electronic boost controller if someone is looking for one.The turbosmart is a 38 with 7 pound spring in it.

I knew I wasnt the only crazy one, or even the worst of the bunch lol

sometimes its nice having junked cases, blocks, heads.... it wasnt nice getting them, but they come in handy. I mocked up the 61 on the bike, put it in a slightly different location than the 60-1, then put my jig on a "mock up" motor


T3 divided flange. going to be ported a little and the turbo will be matched



304 SS 1.25 shed 10 pipe. much nicer to work with than the 1.5 that I made the last one from. tighter radius's ect. the ID of this stuff is actually 1.45in and matches the exhaust gasket very well. the 1.5 has an ID of 1.65in and is a little overkill.

Making some progress. heres the big boy hanging/sitting where its going to be living this yr



while my first header worked pretty well, Im sure version 2.0 is going to work much better, I learned a lot building my first one.





made this bolt on jig so if I ever need to copy this I can easily. I also marked out an extra header flange



spotting everything with 3/32 308 rods. old school Arc welder. it will be finished by a pro with a Tig

just barely enough room for the K&N air filter. the rubber touches the Muzzy oil filter relocator


able to fit a full rad with it shimmed out 3/4 in. could have made the turbo flange a little tighter to the block for less shimming but wanted to be sure i would have enough room for dual piping for the gate. next time...
i can get my finger between the fender and rad with it lowered this far. going to trim the fender for more room


1/8-3/16 clearance. going to wrap the header to minimize heat transfer


3 in exhaust tapered down to 2 3/8 to fit the TiWinder meg. going to redo the taper to make it longer/more gradual.

i had originally planned on coming off the header, but this is what i finally ended up going with. several designs later....



sch 10 pipe for the main tube to support the big gate and 16 gauge for the other side of the divided housing.

thanks. its crossed my mind, but I thought that was more of a LSR design? I see that on the RCC stuff thats hitting the mile or longer. Looking at the NLR stuff thats drag oriented, I see the 1-2 and 3-4 pairing. Seb made a post that says it helps spool up, which is more important on the line, than peak hp. while I do plan on hitting LSR events eventually, the main focus is drag racing.

Seb talking about a manifold very very similar to his design on another board:

he finally figured out my manifold design had reason behind it LOL!!!! COPY CAT

Lower backpressure, previous fired cylinder creates a scavange effect on the next.

No cross talk between cylinders, pulse energy is directed straight into turbine wheel.


since it reduces backpressure compared to the manifold you have it may be difficult to keep the boost in check at lower levels.
The pulses travel straight down in to the scroll and hit the turbine wheel with NO intereference of other cylinders firing directly into it.
Most of the manifolds on the market all the cylinders hit eachother above the turbo flange. ( think of it as 4 rivers meeting at one point) . You will have alot of turbulence and chaos. This cause backpressure as its hard to evacuate this into the turbine housing quickly. It does make it easier to wastegate as this backpressure is hanging around and has no problem going out the gate when asked to. My manifold does not allow the cylinders to meet until inside the and below the turbine flange. Good for efficiency bad for wastegating low boostlevels if gate is not prepped correctly. Spool up will increase with my manifold as well.

Its a double edged sword you see

my ugly tack on the turbo will be ground off after its tacked by a tig, then tigged all the way around with the proper filler. i dont have 309
