Word from the Doctor!!!!
Well, here is a little ZX12Girl update......Since, I work all the time and never get on here much anymore....
First off....I am hard headed and sometimes stubborn!!! just in case you did not know!!
As of Jan 2003, I had been on the damn crutched for 6 months. I was pretty sick of them.....so, I decide....screw it, who needs crutches!!! (smart move there!! )
Started walking on my own in January. Little discomfort but it was such a relief to walk with-out 4 legs....(well, hobble anyway).... So I had been walking on my own for two months and it was time for a visit to the Doctor (last week)!!!!
Went to the Doc's office. Took the x-ray's and what-do-ya-know..........I have successfully broken one of the screws from walking on my leg before it was healed. The screw was taking the weight....So, Doc say's I have two choices -
#1) Use the stinking crutches and keep the weight off my leg.
#2) Continue to be hard headed and risk breaking the rest of the screws (Domino effect...snap one right after the other)....then for sure it's off to the operating room.
So, One up for the Doc....I am back on the crutches.
Then.....Gotta get a Tomogram (sp?) next week to see if there is much healing because the x-rays do not show any. (how depressing) If no significant healing, it's back to the operating table anyway for some additional Hip bone to be added around the break.....Oh! The thrill and anticipation of more cuts, drugs and time off!!
Looks like I may not get my 8 second this year either......Now, Doc can forgetaboutit this spring......I am riding as soon as the snow melts but I am not sure if I will be able to hold the bike to do a burn out for racing......Might have to engineer a leg support to strap over the leathers!!
If I am stuck in the damn lazy boy again this year, you guy's better start e-mailing the video's so I don't go postal!!!!

Hang in there Angi, wish there was something we could do. Hell, if Reggie Showers can go low 7s with 2 prosthetic legs, you should be able to go 8s with 1 gimpy leg!

Angie! PLEASE, HEAL FIRST - track later!! Please take my advice! The track will be there, next year if it takes that long, whatever it takes it will still be there.
I know it's hard, but the quickest path back on track is to heal properly. I hope it works out that you don't have to go back under the knife, but if you do maybe it's for the better in the long run.
Take care!

Hey Angie, Take some advice from an old man. I have on various occassions in my life taken it upon myself to cut a cast or two off, pitched the crutches or cane. Started exercising before I was susposed to etc. And I can say to you without hesitation that on any given day or time it is exactly those injuries (that I decided the doctor was stupid about) that ache and cause me to limp, wake up in the middle of the night because it hurts, effect my flexability, etc. Bite the bullit and do what you are told. When the time comes you can push it hard in therapy. I'd type more but I need to get a handf full of advil!

Hey Intra, that was some sneaky 750 bodywork and forks on that bike, but the engine was most certainly 1000cc!! It was slammed, and had those super sweet aftermarket rims running used road race stickies. "PM" rims maybe? It's a beautiful bike......
I think he lost purely at the starting line in 1st gear, otherwise he might have barely pulled it out at the end!

It looked like the 1000 flew by that other bike at the end,and what kinda of bike was that anyway,I could here the 1000 going threw the gears,I think nearly 5 of them,it must have been geared down,or spraying.

Hey Angie
Sorry to hear about the leg... Are you a RN or a Doctor? Because my wife is a nurse and she is the worst patient. I'm always telling her to do what the Doctor said and shes hates it when I'm right...HAHAHA
Just keep thinking healing thoughts and that 8 second ride.....

Angie, Come on, listen to the doctor. It is hard enough to heal up right without you fighting it. Take it from someone that hasn't walked right since 1969 when I broke my leg.
The older you get the more it will bother you, give it a fighting chance now while you can...dj

I know someone that was VERY close to loosing his foot after a STOOOOOPID accident at Moroso Motorsports Parks several years ago...
They had to fly SPECIALISTS from accross the pond to do the nerve reconstruction...
LONG story short...a DUMBASS that had a bad run down the track...hit the NO2 button on the RETURN ROAD and crashed into my friend that was pushing another friend back the return road on his race bike...The IDIOT had a DARK SHIELD (at Dusk) on his helmet and didn't see them before it was too late...
I was one of the first people at the scene...bike parts all over the place...hit the race bike so hard...it knocked the carbs OFF THE MOTOR (G-FORCE not direct hit to carbs)...
BRAND NEW RACE BIKE...FIRST RUN EVER...totaled the bike and ALMOST KILLED Chip...They operated on him for 5+hours!!! just to stop the internal bleeding and "save his life"...The "foot reconnect" STARTED after he was stabilized from the life saving
They gave the guy a year suspension from the track...it was about a year before Chip "knew if he was going to keep his foot"...
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF (leg) ANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Crap...I don't care if you are STILL on crutches if/when I finaly get to meet you and Kzz1...as long as you get to recover from your injury!!!

Angie, i would like to suggest a second opinion as to why your bones are not healing?! 6 weeks for average for broken bones to heal and 12 weeks at the worst cases with screws. I am curious why at 6 months you haven't had a second surgery to remove the screws instead of more crutches! Please get a second opinion!!!

ra12r,
You might be right. A second opinion wouldn't hurt!
But, I am missing up to 2" splinters of bone. When I crashed, it shattered a portion of the bone. Couldn't be lucky enough to just have a crack!!!
Example - Break the neck off of two seperate bottles then put the two break sides together. You'll see a bunch of cracks and pcs. missing. This is how my leg is.
I have a gap missing in between the top and the bottom of the bone. There is a lot of bone to grow.
I had a Tomogram done to see how much bone growth has occured. I'll find out this week. If I have surgery again, it will be to pack some of my hip bone around the break.....Less bone to grow. My main issue is....Why the hell didn't he do this in the first place!!!!
Thanks,
Angi

ra12r brings up a legitimate suggestion and or question. Swft and I were taking about your situation. In our cases both of us have broken our legs severely and in both cases we were younger but it sure seems like the healing went faster! I was chasing ladies, and frankly racing my motocross bike (against doctors orders of course) at 6 months.
I would strongly suggest a totally seperate 2nd opinion.
