LSR Stock motor N/A shootout?
I was thinking about having a shootout this April at the Ohio Mile.
It would be nice to have a shootout with the following bikes:
New ZX14
1352cc ZX14
08+ Busa
99-07 Busa
ZX-12R
GSXR 1000
BMW 1000
Honda 1000
Yamaha R1
ZX-10R
Ducati 1198
Stock motor n/a would be a nice thing to compare, same track, same day....possibly even swap riders if time permits??
I'd be willing to field my street 12R
I think Rich would be fine with running his street 14 (he went a best of 197 on it at Maxton)
Thoughts? It would be more of a comparision of the natural abilities of the BIKES, not necessarily the riders. If the riders were about the same size it could help shed some light on how they all stack up in the standing mile.
Chad is pretty light, about my weight. Rich is pretty light, more like Zack's weight. Maybe Debbie could field her 1st Gen Busa (she's around 125 lbs).
Just thinking out loud....any interest? I'm sure most bikes will be lowered and lightened with their preferred choice of fuel but other than that, I think a stock motor n/a comparo would be pretty cool.

Word Rich. You didn't miss much during this last outing...headwinds & headwinds, you'd have been spinning out the gate too with the cold track.
I wasn't sure if we should all try and make it a "Pump Gas Only" type thing too....but I don't wanna ding people who are using race fuel, E85, etc. & make them have to spend time/money retuning.

I think I like the idea of just what ever fuel we are used to using. It's still trying to get the most out of the "stock motor". I will have it set up with nitrous by then too. Maybe one day without, and one day with.

"IF" was a spliff we'd all be stoned...
I'm talking about n/a stock MOTOR bikes, no mention of Stock (not modded) bikes. That would be quite the bore, I'll leave that to the magazines.
And Johnny, you didn't include the 2000 ZX-12R.
Rich, if you wanna spray just make sure the bottle is out on your "N/A" day. Other than that have fun.

April 28-29 Hot Rod Magazine Street Car Shootout
June 2-3
July 7-8
Sept 28-29
Setup day will be Friday before the Meet.
Doug, pipe/pc sounds good. It will be too difficult to get each of these bikes perfectly even in terms of modifications....slip on vs full......pump gas vs race fuel.....etc....but if we can get a real world same day/same sized riders all going at it on stock motors n/a I think it would fun and kinda cool to see which bike(s) are running at the front. Of course the new 14, 1340 Busa and BMW 1000 will probably be favorites but you never know.
DM, what is your weight unsuited or suited if you don't mind me asking?

i may have to show up again though i think when i take the 12 apart for the trans i am throwing the stroker crank in with the stock bores. (since my car ate the block and need to spend money on it again. i am thinking money wise
this will maximize all the stock parts with ported head and stock cams)

Since differing rider weights, bike setups, and fuels are allowed....how about this:
1) Internally unmodified engine. Nothing, nada. No head work, no thin gaskets, nothing. Only mods that can be done without opening the engine.
2) For a real shootout like this, the rider should pilot their own bike, imo. The Throttle Nation shootout comes to mind. Once you start throwing riders jumping bikes into the mix, all bets are off. The pecking order of most of these machines is already established, in equal hands...you are not going to "learn" much about the bikes, given the wide range of setup details.
Given those two caveats, we have one or two bikes to bring, with one or two riders. Let's make it fun, already...stock motor, ridden by the bike owner! Sounds like a great time to me!

Jim, I figured keeping it a stock motor and n/a tries to at least keep the playing field relatively level. Of course some bikes are heavier than others, some have an aero advantage, some have an HP advantage....and Person A might have a stock ride height bike, person B might be slammed....I can't control all the variables but I thought a true
"Stock Motor, Naturally Aspirated" shootout, all in good fun mind you, would be kinda neat, especially same days, similar sized riders to at least help in leveling things out. Again, all in fun...I fully expect the BMW 1000, New 14 and The 1340cc Busas to be the front runners in this little shootout...but you never know....if we can swap riders too if there's time that would be fun too!

LMAO...so are the "rules' agreed upon, or not? "Same-sized" rider means nothing when overall weight, mods, and fuel are not regulated...
Or is this a "competition" to see if the lightest rider on the fastest bike wins out??
Let us know...

LMAO? What was so funny there buddy? It was just an informal shootout. No prizes, no money, just for fun. Stock motors, naturally aspirated, if you wanna play just say so. If not, won't really make a difference.
What is it you have a problem with?

I don't have a problem with anything...still LMAO though, so let's pin down the rules.
Is it a "any stock motor bike with anyone riding anyones bike" type thing? Or are we looking for a "winner" riding their own bike? Without a "winner" it is not much of a "shootout", is it?? And without a "riding your own bike" rule, the outcome is not that interesting, imo.
As I say, we have one or two bikes we could field...bikes that we would ride, we would do the mods to, our own bikes. No "jockeys", just a couple of people fielding their personal bikes. It would be great to see you, Doug, Roy, Shultz, Dennis, Rich, etc...out there on their own machines.
Let's make this about fun, the riders, and their personal machines!

Well, Dennis, it definitely is not "stock motor", so probably wouldn't fit in this contest.
That being said, I'd love to see how it stacks up. Especially compared to Ali's stock motored machine, and even the 14 or Gen 2 Busa. Sounds like a cool project!

Shane, maybe you need to re-read? There's nothing to overthink or clarify....its pretty simple: Stock Motor, naturally aspirated.
Is this a 100% perfect test? NO because different riders, different setup, potentially varying conditions throughout the day....its about having fun, thats it. It will be a nice comparo of different stock motor n/a bikes that day. If there is time or if other riders are ok with it rider/bike swaps would be fun too to see how things pan out.
You wanna throw Rachael in the mix, fine by me. I don't think she'll be able to hang with Rich on his 14 so it may not be as strong of a showing as I'd like to see out of the 1352cc zx14 camp.
But again, this is an informal just for kicks type of thing. Generally speaking stock motor n/a bikes aren't in the hunt for records, their ridden for fun and personal improvement with friendly ribbing in the pits.
Dennis, of course your bike not being stock motor would DQ you from running in this informal little comparo, but it doesn't mean it couldn't be fun to mix it up and see how it all hangs in the end. I look forward to seeing that thing GO!
