wide rear rims
so how much more of a contact patch would a rim thats 6.6in or 6.75 in vs a 6 in rim give me? 190 50 17 tire

I don't know, Scott. But I might be getting a wider rim soon...and I'll take pics if I do, comparing them with tires mounted.
Kosman can widen oem rims fairly cheaply.
