- GSXR 1000 Fuel Pump Died - Help? -

It looks like the fuel pump died on my Racheal's 03. Voltage at the connection on start up, but no sound, no fuel coming out. Unless someone knows of another possible cause, I need a pump.

What are the options? What years interchange? Is there a Walbro or something I can swap in there? I hate buying used, you never know what you are getting with something like a pump. But I'm not paying $550 for a new Suzuki part, that's for sure.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Shane

Call these guys: http://autoperformanceengineering.com/

Ask them for their Walbro E-85 fuel pump and their Kit 29 pre-filter kit. The pump will be slightly shorter than stock, but should otherwise drop right in to your stock housing. You may need to add a shim (nylon block or stainless steel scouring pad) to keep the pump from backing off of the filter assembly. Also, you will need to fiddle with the electrical connectors, but that's pretty straightforward.

We race with this pump in our K5, and none of the VP MR fuels affect it in the least. We've even run it at 4 bar and still have had plenty of reserve. Note that the other Walbro pumps will eventually break down form exposure to the oxygenates in pump gas, as well as race gas.

Thanks Tim! I figured you would know.

We only used MR9 once in the bike, but it was at the end of last season. I thought I got everything out and cleaned up, but I guess not. So far, no probs with maybe 50 gallons through a 14 pump...but I have a spare on hand at all times...

probably the shitty ethanol gas that killed it.
