Do you know what that program costs to run one month....let alone 1 year?? Put it this way...in a months time you could buy a new duallie, 16x8 trailer, a 5ft high box of brand name tools, 3 ZX12s, full leathers, brand new Arai helmet, 10 MCR or Shinko tires, and still have $10,000+ in your pocket for fuel, lodging, and race entry fees. That is just for 1 month! Now multiply it by 11..and you get an idea of what an NHRA Prostock team costs...before purchasing the bikes, trailer, sponsorship banners, etc.
Im in for 1/4 of 1/2 of 3/4% of the costs....who else??? lol

It amazes me that both Angelle and Matt Hines can't find a sponsor. How can any PSB team get money if these guys can't? Are they asking for too much?

What Angelle needs to do is come here to NYC and approach the investment firms or insurance companies!!!

Well Freek, look at this way, if you buy to WSB Ducati's you will pay about 110,000 ea for them. Then the engines from Ducati run somewhere in the zone of 30,000 a piece. The engines are good for about 350 Kilometers and need a crank, new cases and the rest of the goodies. Then you need a transport and the money to pay for it's fuel, maint. etc. The tire budget unless you are Factory Honda, Kawi, Suzuki, etc. is going to pretty good. Consider you get to Tech on Wed, practice Wed, Thursday, Friday, Sat and race on Sunday. Figure a miimum of 10 sets of tires per event. That assumes you are on a budget and mindful of the tires. using Dunlop buscks and sponsor money you can still figure that set of tires will cost anb average of 200 a set. Most tire sponsors will give you x number of sets. And most riders will burn them up befroe or by the 3rd race. Why not there fgree and fuck the team sponsor!
NOw this is the tip of the ice berg because you have not addressed prep and testing to get the bike ready for the season, and the cost of the team. The team members pay varies. Some guys do it on there own. At the very least they get airfare and flea bag hotel. Some guys will get a $100 a day some 300 or more it depends. Fuel costs are of course not cheap, special tools, etc. And if you have a big name rider there is that thing about paying them.
It is not unusual for some of the seemingly well funded teams to run out of money as the season get near the end. Credit cards begin to bounce, mechanics and riders don't get paid etc. One team that one a number one plate last year sold the winning bike and back up bikes as they left victory lane to pay for the tires, fuel, crew expenses etc. Racing is a passion. It requires money and an Owner that has both the passion and the money. Larry Pegram is riding for the "Dream Team" this year on the AMA circuit. Road Racing World Magazine printted that the team had a million dollar budget for the year. Velasco is the mechanic for the team. And the budget has been revised significantly upwards since Roadracing World announced things. As a high tech guy why don't you put some of your millions into a team!!!!
Hey Vincent, sometime take a moment to look up the list of big money Bush supporters in comparrison to Gore and Clinton. Gore had over 20 times more fat cats that contributed a million dollars or more to his campaign then Bush had. Hollywood knows best you know!!!

Yes Freek if your going to throw some of your millions towards a Racing Team, how about the Mad Mike Racing Team! and you dont have to pay the rider, just the engine builder(me), Crew chief(me), Rig Driver(me and christina we will split it.), promotions mgr.(me)and race mechanic (me). but they all work at an extremely low budget of about 50-100 a race, and since I am financing all of the Cashflow right now I would love for you to take care of everyone but the Racer/Rider, I will work for free!!! and I think the word is more addicition rather then passion, but I guess they are one and the same.....

i figured raodracin would be a chunk more, jsut cause of the considerably longer periods of abuse the bike has to undergo. i'm pretty surprised how little the mechanics etc are paid, 100 - 300 eh? peanuts. for the mechanics that is. as a team owner i'll bet they add up pretty quick! well, if i ever have a mill or so to burn, i'll be sure to let ya know mike! at the moment i'm about 998,000 short of the first million tho

Of course some of the mechanics make more. It all depends on who, how much you want out of them, hw long etc. The factory pays some of them more etc. I assume the number you typed was a typo freek. You put a comma in the space you meant to but a decimal point right!!

There definitely is advertising dollars out there...just not in the areas "we" like. NASCAR comes to mind.
MadMike, $30g/ month? Maybe for a "Prostar" Prostock team...not an NHRA caliber team. Fuel alone is probably $5k One motor is $25k...

Ok Guys
If you want to sponcer the cute little girl on the Star Racing bike for one season( 15 races ) its going to cost you $800,000.00 for one year and they want a three contract. So you take 3 X 800,000.00 = 2.4 million dollars.
I was checking into the ProStock bike program and wanted to see what it would cost to start up a team. Its going to take about $75,000.00 to $100,000.00 to build a bike that will run the numbers. Now you can buy used bikes and motors ect, ect; But you will not be in the show, look at Steve Johnson he's in the show and he may get lucky and make it to the 2nd round but that's it. I have never seen him win a race, so it takes money, money and more money and a good rider to win at Prostock.
I called Star and V&H motor sports and asked about there motor programs.
Star $25,000.00 to buy a motor, V&H same thing to buy or you can rent one the weekend at $2500.00 + the cost to rebuild.
So there you have it, as we all know this is no poormans sport and we are all looking for a deal on parts, tires and everything else that we need.
We all bought our bikes for lets say $10,000.00 and then we do all the stuff we can afford to them to make them fast. Prostock just does the same thing just with a lot more money$$$$$$$$$$$............................
And for any of the Sponsors that are reading this.... Sponsor local races and bikes that we ride ZX12, Busas, R1, 600 and the bikes we ride every weekend. Show us the love that you have shown the big teams. Why because we buy the bikes, parts, tires, leathers, trucks and trailers with our money from our 40+ hour jobs just so we can run down the track and say I did this today. Then our buddies go and buy the same parts because they work......thats my 2 cents
