Cecil County Dragway

Anyone here race at Cecil County Dragway? Is it a decent track? How's the people? This is my first race season in Maryland and this track opens a week earlier than MIR and I am itching to get at it. I am use to being in San Diego and we don't have a winter, so this is killing me...lol

2000Redrocket and Tshultz do...

It is an NHRA track, so if you are planning to run in the 9's or better you will need an NHRA license.

Thanks i remember seeing someone say they raced their but couldn't remember. I have a license, so not worried about that. But just wondering if they are fair with letting bikes run and whatnot.

Awesome that is what I like to hear. I actually have to drive a little ways to get up there so I wanted to be sure. Anyone on here going to be there on the 25th?

I am just anxious to try the new set up, so I will brave the cold. Do you know anything about how those Friday night races are set up? It says street and grudge race, and then they have a separate one for test and tune, but are they ran the same way?

I ran there a year ago, went on one of their test n tune saturdays. i was running mid 9s all day long and they never asked me for proof of NHRA license. they had bikes line up in one area and they would try to rotate us through every so often. I got as many runs in as I wanted to, I think i did about 12-14 runs that day.

Cool, thanks for the help.

At the little 1/8 mile strip we raced in San Diego, I would have to limit myself from running too much, I ran my bike 31 times in one day and could have ran a few more...lol Its hard getting use to these bigger tracks out her with tons more people which is both a good and bad thing. We were pretty happy out there if we saw for or five bikes.

Figured as much, even out west four or five bikes and I was the only 14. I have only raced at MIR once and I was one of maybe five or six kawi's everything else is busa's and gsxr's.

If you ever go to Jason Miller's Streetbike Seminar at MIR, you will easily get in 30-40 runs...and that includes time when he shuts the lanes down for seminars. :

Since you are close, you should definitely try it.

I saw you talking about that after the last one last season. I would definitely like to go to one. I will just have to plan a little in advance because it is on a weekday.

I saw they had seminars about 60fts and 330s. I really need some instruction there, I want some 8 second time slips this year.

A couple of videos we have taken during the 60'/330' seminar. The rider is Rickey Grayson, and he is fast and smooth:

Jason encourages everyone to take video of both their own runs, and those during the seminar demonstrations.

I don't have many videos of me running. I bought a go pro but haven't really used it yet. I want to get some videos of what I am doing with my throttle and clutch. If I go to one of these I will bring my tripod or maybe someone can film while I run. It would be nice to get some seat time with a little direction.

Thanks, I appreciate it. And I will definitely make it to at least one. I am use to being at a track that only has a race or two a month. This place has something just about every weekend for me. This season is going to be kind of hard on the wallet. It would help if I could become consistent on this setup and maybe win or runner up in some of the bracket classes. MIROCK has a lot of purse money and contingency money available.

dakota you can race at cecil wed night, friday night. the weekends are usually races. some sat test and tunes.
one thing todd did not say is they usually do not prep the track well friday and wed night.
go and try it though. i will end up spinning through the endzone in top gear either skating a little or it will lunge like the chain jumping. (i can not say i hate that cause it gives me (anyway) killer mph on the slip)
go saturday test and tune and there will be more searious people there. and then you better have your shoes tied tight. they prep the track well usually.
if you can find a outlaw or 10.5 test track rental for a friday day time the track will kick ass till the sun is down a while.
i like cecil a lot. maple i prefer cause it is only 1 hour for me and 2 hours to cecil.
fridays will be a zoo usually. wed will be less full.
if you think you are the minority on a zx14 be in todd and my shoes on red 12s. LOL
oh and cecil is as fast as mir according to me anyway.

Thanks for the info. I probably won't make it up there too much just because I am only 25 miles from MIR, but they are open one Friday earlier but they are not open again until the 4th and MIR opens on the 5th. I am just itching to get out there. Hopefully the track will be prepped a little since it is the first day of the season...at least I can hope. If I can't hook a little it won't help me test my new setup. And I don't doubt it being as fast as MIR, I checked the density altitude yesterday and they were both -1500 feet or so. And if anyone is interested this site is cool to check air density. If you don't see your track just send them an email they will add it. They added one for me when I was in San Diego in a couple of days.

Back in the day even I made a few trips there for all bike meets! (early 1970's)

I say that because they also treated me like I was a regular even though at the time, I did not see hardly any other people that were born with a sun tan! You will like it there
