trailer security
Thanks to all you guys for taking me to school about bike trailers, providing such excellent advice.
This weekend wifey & I are going to Titusville to pick up my new trailer!! YAY!!
Now please school me on how to lower the chances of it getting stolen when i am on the road.
here are a couple pix of the model i am getting (mine will be silver)

after mine had attempted to get stolen/broken into, I made it like Fort Knox. Shoot me a pm (let me know if you do) with your ph number and I can give you some advice

Niice!!! Add big padlocks and a good hitch lock. Also, I know that some people use a lock that goes on a wheel.

As far as security, we always lock Lydia up inside with a 12 gauge & no problems so far. :-)
You can get three shrouded, good quality locks that are keyed alike for the doors.
When the trailer is left alone I use good quality locking cables (like Kryptonites) thru the two right side wheels and another thru the left side wheels. I also use a Reese coupler lock that uses a ball to fit into the trailer coupler then a latch lock.
I looked for one of those locking devices that imobilizes the wheels like cops use but haven't found one.
When the trailer is locked to the truck by the latch I also use a cable between the trucks bumper and the trailer tongue.
Inside we cable the bikes together and have disc brake locks installed.
It's a little time consuming & kinda expensive but to me it's worth it.
It might be overkill but I'm gonna make some thief work getting my stuff, it's a gutless feeling finding your stuff stolen......been there, done that.
You're gonna love the trailer!

We use simiar methods inside...I like to also cable through the frames/swingarms and wheels when possible.

I like to have a locking pin on the hitch also so while at a food stop it isn't unpinned and wheeled to another vehicle. I'm do not know about utility trailers but on my camper,the dealer mentioned how all the locks of that brand are keyed the same.I f so then I would have new cores installed. See if they have lo-jacks for trailers to locate in case of theft.

You guys are coming up with some really good stuff, and Pete, hiring a couple chip toothed hill billy trailer barbies is an excellent idea.

They make LOWJACK for a trailer just in case it DOES get stolen.....
Lock the receiver to the hitch,lock the trailer to the receiver, audio alarms,ect.ect.ect....
But look what happened to STAR RACING(George Bryce)....They stole the whole tractor trailer at one time while Chip was in the hotel sleeping......
Nice trailer dude....Congrat.`s on it....Have fun setting it to your liking....

anyway on my band trailer i use all the lock stuf and i use shock,tilt ,kill .remote start and paging alarm systems on it...2 complete systems.my drum rig is 30grand.i got to know whats happening.

Yeah I can remember back when an open trailer was good enough for Karl's ZX12R then he goes to the dark side and has to have a fancy-wancy enclosed for the Boosa...... :-)
I've been thinking of having Roto-Rooter decals made up for my trailer but it's just loaded with Kawasaki's.
