Prostar sets new rules for leathers

The leathers have to have a full zipper waist if 2 piece...I have a Vanson 2 piece suit and called them, it will cost me $500.00 to modify my 2 jackets and pants to fit together since the jackets are 2 different sizes!!!
The problem is that I wont be able to wear the leathers as a seperate 2 piece, the pants need to be held up with suspenders due to the pants being a little oversized for comfort...Bastages!!!

I'm going to take a 3 hour ride to Vanson and check out the DragRace suits and probably order one, so I can wear my other leathers and be comfortable...

Just when I thought I wouldnt have to spend too much this season!!!

Vinny Hill posted a company that will alter your current leathers to make them into a one piece for like 200 bucks.

if you go to a local shoe/leather repair shop they can do it for about 75 bucks! and it has always been full zip together, but this year they also stated "Not 10" zip in back"

Yeah ECTA will be enforcing the rule this year. I went thru tech using a one-piece but wore my 2-piece to the line, they busted me, but let me slide since it zipped together. At the last event they actually checked every rider on every run and warned them.

That sucks!! big time I really really wanted to come out and give it a whirl this year! but not if I have to spend a boat load on new leathers.

Mike you can rent a decent one-piece from kneedraggers.com in advance for ~$100, I was happy with their service when I tried that for the September event.

I'm glad I won a set of Bates Leathers in the 1999 Prostar West Series...

They fit great, & these leathers are the best on the market today.

MM, If you have more than 1 set of leathers, take the set you do not like and send them to Barnacle Bills and have them made into 1 piece! The Drag Racing bodies will not tell you that the 1 piece has to be Zip together! I think 1 day, it will be 1 piece for everyone, the only difference will be that the Drag Race people will wear theirs over the Boots (Like the Dirt Trackers also do) and the Road race guys will wear theirs inside the Boots like the Moto Cross guys also do!

They did at the beginning of 2002. So I slipped thru tech using a one piece that I rented the next time, then I borrowed a one-piece just to go thru tech and wore my own. Then I got caught

The ruling by ECTA make me sad because now I won't be able to go and try maxton as there is no way I can afford to buy a 1 piece suit.My suit zips all the way around and has the best armour vanson makes.I doubt a 1 piece suit would protect me any better. But thats their rules and if I want to compete I will have to comply.I paid almost $1800 for my custom made vanson suit.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I could get a 1 piece suit for not too much money? It will most likely have to be custom made. Thanks

Harry,

You can get a custom one-piece suit from Syed Leathers (www.syedleathers.com) for about $800 if you let them pick the design.

I want to go to the BIG RACE in Brainerd, but found out they are using Prostar rules. (unless your on a Harley?!) Luckily I found a new one piece (with back protector) on EBay for $175. 10 min left in the auction, one bid and I had it. Must have been destiny. See some of you there!
