have u ever changed your throttle position sensor

if so,what was the bike doing that lead up to the replacement.i have 50,000 miles now and i think mines shot.

what Karl said.. mind you, you must use caution when replacing one, if you've never done it before. they must be initialized to a certain throttle plate opening. some are done using resistance, some are done by voltage.. not sure what the 12 uses..

i pulled it off the other day and it has a slight spring load to it.nothing fancy.just reset it to 1.085 volts dc.i`m testing it with a scope on friday to check for bad windings or segments.i`ll let you guys know want i find out.a new tps is around 120 bucks.

Follow the book procedure and if it matches, it's fine. It's a pretty simple part.

pretty sure thats not a wire-wound pot.. just a metal-film with a single wiper.

you may see "scratchyness" on the scope.. good way to test them. i put em on my tektronixs for the same thing. see a spike or dip in Vf off eh common and you know you've got something funky going on.

i wasn't sure what the procedure was on that tps. the hondas are alot more involved and wat a resistive set-up done and theres even a bit of math involved in the set-up.
polaris is a bitch. you must inject a 5VDC signal to the sensor with a 100% closed throttle plate, initialize the TPS for.. "X.XX volts out" off the output wires, then hook it up, meter voltage, turn the plate idle adjust out, meter the thing some more. they're retarded.
