That sucks Scott........

If you really copied the Adams pan design that shouldn't have been the problem........with my 1/8 mile gearing I'll 1.28 sixty foot all day long !! You don't need to go to all the expense and weight of a dry sump.

Roy

Im wondering if you can compare a bar bikes short time with a street tire bike? i have a LOT of suspension travel on the hit vs hardly any?

you running adams or koenig?

Scott...... I don't think it matters if it's a bar bike or not... my bike will leave with the front end up and the oil pan at a pretty steep angle...maybe not quite as high as you may get your bike ???

Scott,
Looks like the motor was going S on the 2nd pass.
Down that much mph should prob have been a cause for great concern unless you blew a shift or dumped the throttle before the traps. eh?

logging oil pressure in yr future???
(didn't we have this discussion previously? )

Sorry to see the carnage. but logging oil pressure will tell you if the issue is accel or decel.

I've seen bike guts on the track on 2 motors bc of accel and 1 bc of decel oiling issues; hopefully i won't make those mistakes again.

Ding dang it, this is an expensive sport.

The adams pan also has a bunch of other baffles you cant see in the photos of it, that direct the oil, right to the pick up, under the old floor of the pan.......

my bike has like 70 psi in the shut down area...........

Not sure on take off............LOL, but, it is still together, with 5w20 oil.

Wish I had taken pictures of my Coby pan when I had the bottom cut off of it. One of the baffles came loose in the section under the old floor of the shallow section. That baffle directs oil to the little slot between the original sump and the new extended sump. It looks like it would work when accelerating.

I just want to clarify my previous comments on this issue. I'm not at all opposed to Coby's pan or any other design THAT IS PROVEN to work. If it works, it works, You can't afford to do your own R&D on this stuff. It has to work every time or.......$$$$
Coby knows his stuff and like Rob, has blown up a lot of stuff learning what works and what doesn't. They did it so you don't have to.

it was down mph on the first pass, which leads me to believe it was accel. tons of passes slowing down as allways, but none with this 60 ft

logging oil pressure in yr future???
(didn't we have this discussion previously? )

we did, and im guessing that if i had of had oil pressure logged, i would have seen a big drop in the first run, noticed it was down on power, and not run the second pass....

Sorry to see the carnage. but logging oil pressure will tell you if the issue is accel or decel.

Nasty pictures Scott but at least you stayed on the bike.I know how you feel as I toasted three pistons last month then rushing to get the motor built for the next meeting found a 1 inch crack in the bottom of no3 clyinder,a disaster waiting to happen,so that motors finished for this year.
Was it a stock rod?? not that it would make much difference looking at the damage,I can send you some stock rods if you need any, free.

Hey Ken, yes stock rods, Im told Muzzy used stock rod in Gadsons turbo bike, so had no reason to upgrade other than to get lighter rods. Im undecided on if i should use stock or Carrillos in the next build. Ive decided to build an 02 motor into a turbo and really up the power. I would assume 2 rods are ok from my blown up motor, but you never know. I also have 3 good rods in the damaged 02 motor i picked up, so I may be set if i decide to stick with oem. I really appreciate the offer of the free rods, and maybe later on if I decide i need some, and you still have some I could buy them.

I have got two spare sets one from a motor I bought for the block and gearbox milage unknown and one set from my big bore project that has carillo rods in it.
Now I am starting to get to grips with the turbo bike I can tell you boost is the way to go.
I ran 214.3 mph in the mile on Sunday with 12lbs of boost and it was so easy I cant wait to gear it better for next time.
