Pictures of my 12's engine.......
Below are several shots of the damage. The wrist pin is froze solid & there is no blueing anywhere. The outboard circlip is gone but they were all installed with no problems.
I'm really surprised how great the head looks, I was concerned that it was killed.
The cylinder walls looked good except #4 fell apart when we got the engine out.
The piston is distorted as you can tell in the picture.
Any ideas?????????
Thanks,
Dan

Need to see the "undamaged" parts from other cyls. Where is the "missing circlip or parts thereof? Any evidence of V to P interference or tight squish? Pic of bearings?

Squish too tight and beat the bearings out is my guess judging by pics of #3 piston
Need pictures of the rest of pistons in the bore dont wipe clean or touch anything
just pics.
Also like doug said like to see bearings on 1 2 3 rods

Vincent,
The week before Maxton I had the bike on a dyno for fuel & timing tuning when it let go, #4 rod broke on the small end.
I had built the engine over the winter & had 500 miles on it with one short dyno session a month or so earlier.
I pulled the valves out and all four were bent (no surprise) on that cylinder. I also removed the rod and the bearings looked great and the journal seems perfect.
Good to hear from you,
Dan
