The diet continues !!
I just did a bunch of work last month to shave a little weight off the bike.....
Trac front end

Lithium ferrous battery

etc....

So the end result is I lost 40 lbs off the bike and it picked up a tenth and a half in the 1/4 !!
Then I fragged the tranny.......so while it's down for the rebuld I decided to try and loose some more weight with a smaller gas tank.....

had to fab up some seat rails to support the seat

It was at 450 lbs ready to go before so I'm hoping for 425 with the new tank....we'll see soon enough.
Later, Roy

Roy, I am sure you don't want to hear this......., but there is at least 5 lbs of weight loss in the arm, if you switch to a moly arm......., its only money right?

Nox...maybe closer to 10 lbs....that swing arm is heavy !! I've been keeping my eye out for a used moly arm but they're hard to find at the length I need.

My stock 14 arm weighs 10.5 lbs. My 3-9 extended and braced arm is 14.5.
What exactly does a chromoly arm weigh? The feedback that I got indicated they were just as heavy (or light) as my modified stocker.
Also, what is the weight on the Trac forks, compared to stock?

Shane,
Chrome moly arms can be very light...depends on wall thickness etc..my stock extended adams arm has a chunk of billet for the extensions and its a "a model" swingarm with the cast piece up at the pivot point. I'm sure I can save close to10 lbs with the right moly arm.
The total weight savings for the trac front end was 20 lbs...thats forks, triples, wheel, tire and brakes compared to the stock set up that had one disc removed and the light 58/90-17 tire

It's hard for me to compare my setup on the forks. I have the bst rim and a single rotor, so it's already pretty light. I'm not sure what my fork legs weigh combined with the triples.
But on the swingarm I can't see saving more than a few pounds, if that, over my current setup. I want the underbrace, and that adds a little weight as well.

I lost 8-10 lbs, on my mcintosh arm, vs the exact arm that roy has.......
Those are LARGE billet blocks on the back of that arm.........

Not yet Scott......I'll be messing around with it this summer The reason I put the bike on a diet is that I want to run supercomp. The last time out (just before I blew up the tranny) it was going low 8.90's and on the last pass it 60' a 1.30 (best till then was a 1.33) so I'm thinking it would have been a 8.85 pass if the tranny didn't break !! So now with the new gas tank I'm hoping for 8.70's on motor. But I'll be running in the summer heat of south Georgia and needing to run 5.60 in the 1/8 for supercomp....sooo I'm thinking I might need a little boost to get there

And Scott....to give you an idea of the potential this setup may have while spraying.....One of my fellow ZX12 racers from here in South Florida who has a very similar setup to this bike maybe 15lbs lighter, But I'm about 25lbs lighter than him so the total package will have me about 10 pounds less. I've seen him run 8.10's at 165 with a 60 shot trying to slow it down for the top gas 8.20 index

Here's his bike....big difference is the moly arm and no charging system. he runs a four nozzle dry shot. It hauls ass !! I think it has high 7 sec potential with a little tuning !!

They are not as forgiving as a suspension bike when they get hairy either.........
