It was no better when I raced! Longer trips and more expensive parts because they had to last several Hundred miles each weekend! I actually went Drag Racing to help defray the Expense of RoadRacing!!
On my Tax form in 1982, I declared $22,000 for that year alone! Even today, that is still not cheap! I figured that for the almost 15 years I raced that I spent close to a Quarter of a Million! (If I could only have it now!) People (Privateers) now spent $25,000 to $50,000 just for fun a year now! Now you see how much I spent 20 years ago! I had the Beat of everything and some things were "Better" than what the Factory had! (I made sure of it!) When I would pass Spencer on the Banking at Charlotte or Pass one of the Factory Hondas going up hill at Loudon! They would always Joke! What you got there?? A 1500!!

Hey Mike, you also didn't list the price of that cup of Popeye's Cajun rice n' beans you splattered all over yr truck when you got rear-ended in Houston.
BTW: i am picking up my bike from the builders this am; broke it in on the dyno yesterday and it made 210 on pumpgas w/no tuning of a/f (uncorrected). Expen$ive??? sure, but wtf, I'll just have to keep our food costs low by eating Popeye's rice & beans.

Even with my sponsor stuff I out of pocket spent 23,000 bucks this year it costs me about 1500 bucks everytime I go to a track Florida is 5000 dollar adventure for two weeks from Toronto Canada it cost me 1000 bucks just in fuel. But I hope to get more cash sponsors for 03 or the wife just might make me sell one.
