so here's a question... if you run the hays in slider mode , can you still ride it around? or is it like any other slider where you have to get pushed/towed everywhere. Obviously you probably wouldn't want to take it to the store in traffic, but could you ride it around the pits and whatnot? How long do you expect your fibers to last with it?

if it is anything like an mtc slider, then you could technicaly ride it around town, you would just need to add lots of weight to the arms and take out a lot of stall spring pressure. to get it to engage at a lower rpm. the problem is that this would make is boring as hell to ride around since it woud come out of the hole like an intoxicated rhino.

from my experience, having the clutch set up to start engaging at 3500 rpm (that makes for a 10.2 on a 1.8 60') going around the block and down the street was enough to leave the clutch smoking hot. not exaggerating, opened up the oil fill and smoke came out. so even that setup was too aggressive for the streets. if you lived right next to a freeway on ramp where there would be minimal clutch sliding and then sustained high rpms, then yeah, you could ride it in the streets.

but setting it up that soft sorta ruins the whole point of getting a slider.

as usual, i reserve the right to be wrong since i have yet to fiddle around with the hays clutch

but you can ride it around the pits? The sliders that i've seen couldn't even ride back down the 1/2 mile return road after a run.

i would just give it a twist in second gear to get some momentum and coast back. sometimes had to give it a little more once rolling to make it where i needed to go.

whats going to destroy your clutch is trying to keep on the throttle while going slow. there is a certain rpm that the engine has to pass before the clutch has enough pressure to lock. anything below that its just slipping. thats why you just give it some gas and then coast. the small time you spend on the throttle isnt enough to do any damage to the clutch (from my personal experience), then the rest is just coasting.

keep in mind if you have hills to deal with, you'll need a tow

It all depends on how it is set up.

MTC told me that what many guys are doing with single and multi stage lock ups that I have tuned cannot work..., well they do, and are winning races.

The Hays is VERY nice. I love it.

Have not been on in a while. Totally re wiring my bike, I am tired of soldering.......

Built a custom sub frame as well.........

pics soon.

I think Ricky ran in the 7's on Coby Adams 60" ZX12 a few years back so it can definately be done on a 74" bike. I know they were spraying a bunch of notrous but you should front half a lot better with the extra length.
