Forget about a 12 goin 7.99...Just get it out of your head...Dont even think about it anymore !!!

74inch wheelbase

Scott, thats as long as a Tractor & Trailer

a 14 with a stroker and a 100 shot will do it @ 68inch wheelbase with a good rider !!!

Turbo 14 @ 64inch wheelbase will go faster than 7.99

I would think a min of 325-350 rwhp with lots of tq. What was the quickest Chris ran with his NOS shootout bike (back when 8.1's with GSXR13401371/1500 NOS combo's from Carpenter/Bellucci ruling the day)? I saw him run a 8.32 if memory is correct and his motor was big with NOS on top.

It is all in the set-up. Steve only has 12 runs on the bike and the chassis is nowhere near perfect. 7.77 ET, 74" WB, 7" slick, 580# bike & rider. 250 RWHP, no spray. Bike is old Maxton racer that went 206 naked. And yes I am thinking of doing a 14. LSL

Nice.

Set up seems to be the most overlooked aspect at track; the focus always seems to be on power. Except with the fastest guys, that is.

i think its gonna take a setup like 13killa's where the stock tank is completely removed and you are sitting low in the frame. look at the mph that 7.9x bike are running and that should give you an idea about how much hp you will need. the rest is all in the chassis. run that itty bitty slick that the grudge guys use, remove the front fender. get your forks shortened and then lower them in the triples to where the front tire just about touches when the forks are bottomed. throw on a sidewinder and a cut pan too. and then make a few sacrifices to please the drag racing gods.

and then there is the clutch tuning....

and then theres track conditions....

Larry is dead on(as usual)!

It ia all about the set-up. Chassis is everything on the fastest bikes. Look at the pro street bikes. They all make 500-600 HP but they don't all ET the same.

You feeling OK Larry? You're gonna do a 14??? Cabin Fever?

Also, Steve is not your average rider. He is a helluva good rider! That guy can ride anything with two wheels. Drag race, land speed, doesn't matter. I'll take Steve on my team any day.

clearly its been done before, so why get it out of my head?

yeah, 74, as in about 18 over, just slightly shorter than an 18 wheeler.. your point?

so you are basically saying that it would take a 4 mill stroker 14 less than 100 hp of nitrous to run 7.99 at 74 in wb. how about a 3x4 12 with a 100 shot?

Well Scott, you're looking at whatever it takes to go 1.1x 60 foots and run 17x.xx mph.

I think you definitely have to leave the street oriented setup behind. Is that an understatement?

i definately agree that chassis is less focused on than power. i have been guilty of this in the past. adding nitrous before getting the chassis right. just started really playing with suspension towards the end of the season and beat all my old nitrous passes NA.

It's so much more than the pipe, imo. Getting low is just the tip of the iceberg.

Look at the weight, the clutch, the chassis, the rider skill...it's the whole package. And of course, it's going to take some consistent, reliable hp.

Steve uses a slider. 1.19 60' 174 MPH. He sold his swingarm and is going 4" longer with auto trans and a bigger motor . If all else fails, the little blue bottle.
