Oil in air box???

After racing Saturday i was draining the race gas from the tank and noticed oil on the fuel injectors and all under the inside of the fairings i decide to drain the little catch bottle that's by the kickstand. And a Sh?t load of oil came out. Ive be battling wheelies at the track lately could this be the cause of the excessive oil in the air box or did i make a rookie mistake and over fill the oil when i changed it last? Ive never had this problem occur before thought it was odd.
I'll post up some pics.

Wheelies can cause that, but not for long.Over filling can also do that.
Re-set the oil level and if it does it again, do a leak rate. if it's higher than 10% you've got a piston/ring/cylinder issue.
Or maybe just do a compression or leak before you run it again.

I drained it after Maine. I always keep the oil between the marks on the sight glass though after this happen it was at the very top maybe just over filled. At Cecil i pulled a wheelie from the 60 to the lights that probably doest help. I,ll adjust the oil level and see what happens.

Sure were some Beautiful Velocity Stacks

I also have had this problem with the AirBox Full of Oil after a race and it was Pistons with Holes in them!

So as DM Said, do a Compression and Leak down and then either eliminate the problem or know what it is!

Yep, a few of us have had a little blow by from holey pistons. Tends to smoke a little, good for getting rid of mosquitoes..................................it still ran somewhat ok. LOL

I like them purple ones also!

Any word on the compression and/or leak down?

Took the bike for some short rides and it seems ok no smoke.
I'll still do a leak down test as soon as i buy one.
Everybody likes those purple stacks

If you look at every ZX12R in 2000 and 2001, the Bottom of any color bike lower part of the fairing was ?? Purple! Hence the Purple then of course we both have Gold!

I got a leak down tester from Harbor Freight tools but I STILL Cannot understand the instructions?? Let alone try it! The Compression Tester works perfectly and you need to do that first because if one cylinder reads 20 or 30 PSI Lower even with a few drops of Oil, you do not have to look much farther! That is how I found our about the Cylinder head problems with the 2002 to 2006 Mini Coopers having Short Valve Guides that wear out quickly (At about 100K miles!) I had to replace the head already. Makes working on the ZX12R feel like Fun in an Amusement park.

Well as far as leakdown testers I use and have found that Snap-on makes one of the easiest to use with a built in pressure regulator ond just one gauge that reads just the percentage of leak down.If all is well with the engine is the oil contaminated with any fuel possibly? Like as with a leaky or sticking injector or with carbs a sticking float needle.Could give you a false oil level reading and thin the oil out and make it easier for any blow-by etc. to push it into the air box or any other place.
