Right now on the stock arm 28psi in the tire it spins so i run 25psi or less then it will hook. Maple grove and Cecil are decent tracks I'll just give it a try.

Todd, Madkawboy is running Pilot Powers at over 40 psi on his stock wheelbase 14 and doing low 1.5 60 fts. Perhaps you need to soften the rear suspension a bit so that it will squat more, and bite.

That's what i am going to try next i haven't touched the suspension its still at stock setting and so on.

Made 12 passes on the 190-50 Power One Street Version last night, and it doesn't look like it has been touched.

Best 60' last night 1.36
Best ET last night 8.86
Best MPH last night 155

This was on a mixture of MR9 and 89 pump gas (about 50/50 mixture),

Air was pretty good, but humid. Track was maginal.

Tire performed absolutely flawlessly with14 psi. Never spun, not one bit. No doubt I could have added more air, just didn't want to experiment during eliminations.

I picked mine up today, looks to be an awesome tire. Much better profile, softer sidewall, and lighter weight than the Power Race.

Scott, I've weighed the Power One and Power Race on numerous scales today.

I decided to get the shipping weights at the UPS store. So, with them both on the same scale:

Power Race 180/55/17: 13 lbs.
Power One 180/55/17: 12 lbs.

I think they may actually be a hair under those, but that is what the UPS lady told me when we weighed them back-to-back.

The problem with the current Shinko U-Soft is that it is unsafe for LSR. For drag racing it's great though, and I don't think it can be improved much for a street/drag tire. And it's cheap.

so i just purchased a 180 power race... after this tire i am seeing now i need to step to a power ONE.
i am getting the tire mounted tomorrow, and testing friday at ama. if i run 18-20psi ina 200 wide full bore u-soft (same thing as shinko u-soft ) what should i run this 180 power race to get comparable traction.??

I ran 18-24 psi in mine, depending on track conditions. Don't worry about the Power One, that Power Race is a lot better than a Shinko 200!

i have ran the shinko with no problems, unless i tried to get a little brave and go up to 25 or so psi and i would eventually spin...
i have a whole day of testing so i will start out with 22psi, if it hooks, i will leave it.
the big ol 48t rear sprocket is where i have traction problems over anyone else around here.
one last over-asked question, burnout wise, the power race needs nowhere near the burnout that the shinko's do, right?

I don't know what your burnout are like now, but this was plenty long for my Power One on a good track:

Not my greatest passes, but that gives you an idea on the burnout...

Everyone has a different style and I have seen some crazy long burnouts! One girl did such long burnouts that I wouldn't start my bike until after she started her burnout!

lol. with my shinko i do one a few seconds longer, BUT with the gearing it takes it a while to start smoking. actually i never made a cloud like most guys did. the last time i went i did 2nd gear burnouts, just because i knew i was getting a new tire and there was just a tad left.

ive been doing about 3 seconds per "side" and maybe 1-2 in the middle. going to try dropping that to 2 per side, but i wanted to work on chassis, clutch and ME before trying to push yet another variable.
gearing and rpm play a huge role. i found that if there wasnt enough wheel speed the tire would start hopping. had no idea what was going on at first. i have a low first trans gear and im 1 down 3 up so now i try to do an 11000rpm burn to make sure it doesnt hop. dads bike pretty much requires a second gear burnout due to the ultra low gearing(2 down 10 up) for his weight and the slick.
