ZX14 needs new shoes for the mile
Its time to spoon on new rubber. The stock Bridgestones actually worked well but I would like opions on a good tire for hte mile.

Preferred is the adhesive type weight, over crimp-on.
I see several tire brands/models on fast bikes, but medium-compound is most common. No soft race take-offs for me (anymore).

I used the Conti's very successfully they stick good even on the juice,
and wear very well as an everyday tire. I use them at the dragstrip,
it sticks every bit as good as Shinko U-soft but not a super soft compuond.
Best bang for the buck in my opinion.

There are many good choices. I have used medium and soft race compounds without issue at speeds in excess of 200 mph. I have also used a variety of street compounds without issue. You should be fine with any of these compounds with your stock motored machine.
Avoid drag racing specific tires such as the Shinko Ultra Soft, and MCR2 tires. They are likely to get too hot and show signs of adverse wear. I would not consider them safe.
