Helmet Cams at Gainsville

For those of you racing at Gainsville check out the FBR helmetcam rentals! $45/day http://www.dragbike.com/news/10-02/103102a.htm Courtesey of Dragbike.com

"FBR to Rent Helmet Cams to Racers at AMA/Prostar World Finals

Hampstead, MD - Marion Ford, long known for his work building, tuning, and racing sportsman class bikes in the north east is now venturing into the multi-media world with the addition of Helmet Cams.

"I was not going to offer this service till I knew it was right" says Ford, "FBR has worked with various methods and equipment and have come up with a reliable package to offer the racers." Ford is referring to FBR making available Helmet Cam packages for racers to rent at the AMA/Prostar World finals in Gainesville Florida, Nov 10-12.

The package will consist of a small lightweight body pack and a miniature helmet mounted camera. The camera will record all aspects of the racers burnout, staging, and track run, and store the data in the body pack. When the racer returns the pack to the FBR trailer, the info will be downloaded and saved for the racer to keep on tape or disk.

The body pack method eliminates all problems associated with the wireless cameras used in the past. "With wireless cameras, the signal needs to be transmitted from the helmet cam pack to a receiver/recorder located in a trailer off-track, this leads to interference from timers and engine electronics" says Marion. Worse yet, wireless cameras have been known to interfere with delicate ignition electronics and cause inconsistent runs.

The Helmet Cam may be useful for racers to see the path that the bike is taking down the track, to see where they are paying most attention, hear engine sounds and shift points, or for just plain fun.

For $45 per day, FBR will set you up with the needed equipment and get you going. Once triggered, the camera will record with no intervention. Meaning you can keep your mind on racing. The camera will do the rest.

FBR will have television monitors on site where you will be able to see cameras in action and review your run if you would like. Stop by the FBR trailer in Gainesville, or visit www.thefbrshop.com to contact them and reserve a system. "
