This happened to me ALL of the time back in the day with my KZ1015. I would set it up and put it on the engine and check a few and they were ALWAYS Tigher. I never said anything because I just thought I was tired (And I Was) when I set it and just had a different feeling for the "Feeler Guage"

3 of us have had the same experience.
what does it mean? who knows.
but next time i set up lash with head on the bench, i'm set all valves .001 looser than my target.
that'll be a good experiment.
