Glad to hear that Rachael is OK, you must have been out of your mind Shane, sorry. Hope the bike isn't too bad.

It was unsettling, to say the least. I'll know more about the bike in a few days, I haven't really had a chance to look it over. I'm sure that Racheal, and the bike, will be back in top form before too long. But the bike$ may have to wait until 2010.

Shane: On behalf of Steve, Mark and myself please convey our best wishes to Racheal for a speedy (and that's the right word) recovery. It puts into perspective that LSR is not golf. The positive is she went Fast and will heal. The best to both of you. Larry

Shane, glad Rachel is doing ok. I just about dropped my jaw when I heard but when you said not a scratch on the helmet I was ... still shocked actually. Hopefully she will have a full recovery. It may be while before she feels up for it, I know I'd feel rattled and a little tentative if it happened to me. Maybe consider shortening up the 1000 and let her run that out there on a little juice? Kinda like when I jump on the 9R....its just a slow 12 but it has a similar feel.....food for thought. Might help her shake off any ill feelings and get her confidence back up a little...then again she may be fine and ready for another go!

Let me know if you need anything mang.

good to hear shes well. i heard about it and was worried. a lil road rash and thats it i hear?
i hope so.
best of luck and i hope she heals up soon and you guys get the bike together again and kick that run's ass!

ali, you know ima take it easy and build up.. thus why i'll play with the n/a and top it out, then go on low boost on the original motor and learn the curve of the turbo and it's characteristics.. the bench motor is "started" i had to stop because of safety reasons.. haha. i got a face full of berryman B-12 and i turned from man to retarded woman in about .026 seconds. i sat on the floor and drooled on myself.

tried to do some light polishing of the ports and i got thru about half of #1. haha.. oh well. tomorrow it continues.
still need to call john on those pistons.

I thought I would mention this before the rumors start. On Monday, at the private track rental, Racheal had a spill after a 211 mph pass, not long after exiting the traps. She is ok, and very lucky. The bike has seen better days.

Still, just a fantastic event for us. I think perhaps one of the best weekend's ever.

Shane

Shane & Rachael,
we heard about Rachael's get-off on the way home and were ill with worry until we found out later that she was OK.
YIKES!!!
WHEW!!!
Like LSL said, it ain't golf.

Jim - what was your A/F ratio at Loring?

I dynotuned it fat so I could work into the a/f ratio from the "good" side.

Came off the trailer at a dyno tuned 11.3 on 92 pump gas. It went 203 mph.

Switched to mrxo1 and it stayed about the same within .1

Took 3 numbers out of the PC 100% map and it went to 11.6

Then I had a ratio to work with and went right to 12.4 taking out 6 numbers at 100% throttle.

I wanted to play it safe and stay fat for the weekend. There may have been more power in the engine with an A/F ratio of 13 or so but the data logger is showing 12 seconds in 6th gear at wot at 200+ mph/11,000+ rpm.

I was datalogging 4 channels. A/F, RPM, TP, and TRUE airbox recovery pressure. Not data from the MAP sensor.

Its interesting to watch the relationship between the engine gulping air as the bike is shifted and the ramair trying to keep the airbox in positive pressure at 200+ mph and the1427cc engine at 11,000 rpm +.
I'm still digesting it and need to correct for altitude but that ramair system really does work well even on a big motor.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. I am doing fine. I am sure I will have battle scars to show off later. :-)

The bike will be better then ever once finished. Prime opportunity for changes. :-)

I had a ball all weekend and will be ready for next year. Nice to meet a lot of new faces and always a joy to see friends.

Thanks again,
Racheal

Racheal,

"What do YOU Think caused the get off?

I know that unlike road race you just cannot jump up with your body to help slow down because it really unsettles the bike. Understand that at the finish line the bike changes from being "Pushed" by the Rear tire to being Dragged by the rear tire. ANY Looseness in the swingarm or steering will cause a slight change of direction.

Then add to this the airpressure now putting a different input on different parts of your body and you then have a seriously upset vehicle. Go over everything in slow motion in your mind and let us know what you think?

Vincent, we have a lot of data from the crash. We know her body positioning at the time of the crash as well. We know why the bike went down (front end washout), but are investigating what was different on this pass. She had 21 passes over 200 on the bike prior to the spill. We are looking at some environmental factors, and I am investigating a functional issue as well.

We will have some important safety information to pass on to everyone as we get further along in this process.

Thanks Larry. It was great seeing Mark and Steve up there, and thanks for the replacement chain. Any time you guys need one (or anything else for that matter!), just ask.

Shane, you are scaring me because everything you said was in my mind because we ALL need to learn anything we can because we all cannot be that Lucky and even as Lucky / Blessed as she was, I am "SURE" She does not want to try for #3 (Ladys and Busa's) or for #2 her self!

Now that I know what you are looking at I can sit back and see how this goes. We all know just how light the front end is at these speeds. I ahve a Pic of Randall at the Finish line at Maxton with the front wheel 4 inches off of the ground no where near that speed!

i have a scotts and usually keep it about 1/4 of the way twards hard from full soft( sounds dumb but sort of on the soft side) because the scotts has a high valving that makes any setting you have set to full hard when the unit gets slamed.

I have the Muzz Mans Unit that DM did the set up when he ran Bonneville. Has a real good feel and I am only a few clicks into the dampening. The quicker you try to turn it the slower it will go! Too Stiff will make the bike do a weave

Oh Pete, remember you were saying that you thought you saw Doug, on my bike, with the brake light on going threw the traps? SO DID I !!!!!

From the starting line it did look like he was sand bagging because he was on the brakes going threw the traps.

Yes we saw the brake light come on before we heard the engine throttle get chopped. And after looking at the data log it was in 6th gear for a total of 6 seconds before the throttle was chopped......so was the throttle really chopped at the top of 5th? the shift took .32 seconds (foot shifting by the way).

Was Doug doing Karl a favor?

Did Karl pay Doug big bucks to make sure his bike wins no matter what?

Think about it. Do you trust Your eyes or your ears?

Would my buddy Doug do that to me?

Clues are... 7 sec... 75 deg...186,000 mps...772.6mph

I know we had the same at 208 mph last year at Woodbridge and it was caused by wind pressure on the brake lever, run shortys now or drilled ones as per moto GP and thats cured it.

Dean was first. He wins.

Its just about exactly 7 seconds at 75 degrees F for sound to travel 1.5 miles.

So If you timed the run with a stopwatch and clicked the stopwatch when he left the line and clicked it when you heard the throttle chopped after the lights, the time on the stop watch will be 7 seconds longer than the data logger will show.
