LORING 2009
Well, I'd have to say I was very impressed with the whole event.
The track is awesome!
The weather was great.
And it was a lot of fun.
And it was FAST - FAST !!!!!
I want to thank Doug Meyer for an awesome job riding and getting 218.8 MPH out of my bike.
I think this track is going to be the fastest venue in the USA for some time.
Thanks to Karl for the wide array of sprocketry. Because we needed lots of sprockets this weekend.

Doug's the man. You couldn't find a more experienced high speed rider/tuner. He gets better with age and if it is green, he makes it go. Congratulations. LSL

Yep, Doug has more experience at this LSR stuff than most people ever will.
This is my daily driver pump gas street bike... He squeezed a 218.8 mph out of it and I think it still had a little more in it.

I was data-logging 4 channels of data including a true air-box pressure. After I adjust for altitude and smooth the data from the violent resonance of air pressure in the air-box, I'll post some data on the effectiveness of the ram-air system as speed increases to 218 mph.
Thanks to Karl for the LM-1 he so generously gave me last year.
After having so much fun at Loring, I'm thinking I might just take the licence plate off this bike and turn it into a LSR race bike.

Had a fantastic time! Hendrix was a great help from start to finish, Entropy, those Jumbo zip ties did the job. Y2K, the stand was spot on and Brenda good looking out on the water (and beer!)

After listening to you about riding,I was wondering if the competition with Karl was going to give you the bug and a new mission.

Thanks. More than one person doubted my claims of HP/nitrous shot/motor size/whats been done to the motor. I took it as a compliment. I still stand by what I have said: Aftermarket Valve springs, muzzys clutch and transmission undercutting by R&D. I have recent dyno charts too.

Ali, what did the nitrous make for power on the dyno?
I'm curious what kind of power it takes for your bike to go 228.
oh, that stand... it helps if you lift the back of the bike trying to raise it up on the stand. Sorry I meant to tell you that.
I use my foot on the stand and lift the tail. I like the pitbulls better.

----Runs varied from 220s to low 230s (you know how nitrous can be inconsistent with bottle temps, etc)
I'm curious what kind of power it takes for your bike to go 228.
----You mean 229 ;-) Remember the favorable conditions of the day, I seriously doubt I could run that under normal conditions. Then again I did go 227 on the rev limiter for a WHILE before regearing ! Fortunately it didn't blow but I just couldn't let out of it...you know how it is. No hiding on my end, after 3 years of spraying a 40 shot I am at a 60 now. So far so good.

-----Yep, I have to do that sometimes with the pit bulls already cuz I'm light.
I use my foot on the stand and lift the tail. I like the pitbulls better.
----Agreed.

like i said in the other thread.. this was the absolute best weekend of my life.
it was a pleasure and an honor to meet all of ya and watch the very best in action, talk motors and good stuff, learn from the best in the industry and be a part of LSR history.
i will never ever forget this.
thanks to Ali, Jim, Doug, and JohnnyCheese for taking the time to talk to me about motors and shit, i am now 100% confident that i can build the 7 to go OVER 200. i don't really see why 210 or so in unobtainable now! before i woulda been happy with just 200.. but now, i have a record to go after i guess with the gixxer guy and i have a personal goal to beat and a lil something to prove!! haha..
this was just so incredibly awesome and it was an honor and a pleasure to meet everyone!! saw some legends in racing, saw legends in action, was a part of history, saw some badass machines.
this shit was well worth the trip and the money spent.
thank you all so much!

Hendrix, much thanks to all your help, it was a pleasure driving up with you. The general rule of thumb is 200 hp for 200 mph. If you are only going for 200 mph it shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg....but when you say 250 mph I suggest you rethink that.
If I had to do it all again I wouldn't have changed much. Don't undermine the importance of working your way up to the 200 mph mark. Your eyes, brain, and heart have to get used to those speeds, not to mention there is a world of difference between those 2 speeds! Seat time is critical...I usually put 15 mph against rookies that come out to test...on their own bikes. Give yourself time to build the speed gradually instead of going out there and potentially blowing up. Should something happen you want to be calm at those speeds not nervous. I ran the 40 shot for years and years and years and never increased HP...just worked on myself, aeros, weight, etc....and I learned a hell of a lot....and still have a LONG way to go!!!!!!!!
Best of luck in your 7R build....if you need baseline runs we'd be happy to help you out, you aren't too far.

Great seeing & meeting everyone, I could go on for pages, really a wonderful group of people.

I thought I would mention this before the rumors start. On Monday, at the private track rental, Racheal had a spill after a 211 mph pass, not long after exiting the traps. She is ok, and very lucky. The bike has seen better days.
Still, just a fantastic event for us. I think perhaps one of the best weekend's ever.
