I went 8s on motor :D
Went to visit the "Dyno 1/4 mile" trailer across from Daytona Harley on saturday....met up with a guy who had a Nitrous powered busa and we decided to run.
The setup was pretty cool...but basically its all for show. They weigh you on your bike and then you run on a dyno next to the other guy and calculate what your ET would be from your weight and HP you put down.
The busa guy and I decided to run the first run on motor..then the second on spray.
First run
Busa 8.82@149 167.7hp
ZX12 8.91@147 173.56hp
Was pretty neat to run 8s...although it shows how horribly innacurate the machine is
Second run was on spray (when the announcer said we were the two fastest production motorcycles on the planet and both running nitrous..the crowd kinda got into it)
Busa 8.67@153 184.7hp
ZX12 9.12@154 195.5hp (spun the tire at the launch on the drum...so much for trying to dump the clutch at 9k eh?)
The announcer then wanted us to do a top speed run for a full mile...I wasnt very keen on this as the bike was already hot from the back to back runs...not to mention there was no ventilation to cool anything...also with no wind resistance id hit the limiter in 6th long before the mile was up...but anywhoo....we go at it...and im bouncing off the limiter in 6th very rapidly...the temp needle hits red..and I shut the bike off....busa kept goin and popped his overflow tank..spitting fluid everywhere.
All in all it was a pretty neat event...certainly the most fun I had the entire time there.
Anywhoo...sorry that I lost...now even more people will think the busa is faster (It also sucked that the busa rider weighed about 150lbs)

Also..this confirms that you shouldnt remove the siphon tube when running on the dyno as that dyno seemed to read a bit high and I was only making 195 on spray with the siphon tube missing. I think im going to go with a flexible siphon tube now.

I've heard about that type of dyno. Too bad they are not in Michigan. It would be cool to run the bike on one even though the numbers are off

What fun! Had a guy on my site saying his stock 750 turbo could run 9s, cos he'd done it on one of these dynos. I told him to come back when he had ACTUALLY done it on a track....that was last year sometime

You did the right thing by shutting it down on the last run.Those little piss ant cooling fans were a joke. You'd think for $25 a pop the cheap bastards would have better quailty (more efficient) cooling fans. Maybe not , after all it is a boat anchor dyno. One harley went 152 MPH top speed! Right????? I think not.
