made a couple of passes.

The good news is it stayed together.First pass the air shifter wouldn't work.Second pass I finally got over the fear of whacking the throttle right out of the whole instead of hesitating. The second pass the 60 ft.slowed and then even more on the third pass.Looks like I went the wrong direction with the clutch set up as all the frictions were out of spec when I took it apart. My question would be,how do you clean inside after losing the clutch?I figured I would pull the pan and flush the pick up but wasn't sure if there was more I should do.

Pete,

Hey keep on pluggin away at it....I just split tha case`s on my 02 12 for the 1st time and the oil pickup/pan was spotless, not one crumb....Lockup and 4 set of fibers in 10,000 miles....street/strip use.....And lots of oil change`s....LUCAS m/c oil...So maybe you don`t have to mess with it at all....I was thinking mine was gonna be clogged all to hell....I was surprised....
But if you do want to clean, let us know what you find, especially on a fresh build....

Karl, I think this was a Muzzy set up, however I had 2 steels back to back to get my clearance for the lock up.I did have the smaller friction and springs in. I had tried going with 4 springs in it. with me hesitating,I went a 1.76 60 ft. The second time hammering out of the hole it slowed to a 1.85 and the last time it went 1.93 for the 60 ft. After that I decided to go home and have a peek see. What surprised me was very little blueing on the steel.I would have thought that if I was slipping, they would be a lot hotter.I want to settle out the air shifter on the highway before I go back to the track. One problem at a time.
Shiphteey,I have bolt ons and am at about 64"

i'd put the stock pack back in. you're gonna want the extra surface area. and there are more people using them so advice is easier to find. see if you can shim the springs to get some more static pressure in so you can get your 60's back up

if you are talking 4 stock springs, thats enough static if the arms are set up correctly(how many and with what weight if any?) (im assuming single stage?)
i run the thick 2.0 steels, usually with maybe one or two 1.6s to get proper clearance with the snowflake.
were the frictions new to start out with?
are they all below the servise limit, or is just the total pack thickness out of the range required for the lockup?

For weights,I had the bolts and nuts on all 6 arms. The frictions were in there for awhile so I don't know their condition from the start of the day.I replaced them with all .130's.I weigh about 260 plus whatever the cow weighs for the leather and helmet.

My nitrous bottle said it had 130 lbs. on the gauge but still weighed 2.2lbs which is what a full bottle weighs.I'll have to recharge it anyways.I also had no problem with using a race take off I got from Crotchrocket awhile back.It was balanced with those ceramic beads and seems to work good.

take all the weight off for starters, and then start taking arms off untill you loose mph, then add a tiny bit. allways make sure its ballanced. as in dont run 5 arms, but 4 in a rectangle is fine, 3 in a triange is fine, ect as long as the weight is evenly distributed

how is you clutch hub? a grooved hub will make it act like you need way more static...been there, burned that up....

On a MTC clutch, is the clutch release rod suppose to be that loose?I would think I'm loosing a lot of oil pressure there.

its machined so it can "wobble" in the trans shaft, to prevent binding. its "kinda" tight at the inward tip. most of the play is restricted by the bearing in the cover. i havent had oil issues in my bike with it yet. i have the muzzy kit in there too for extra oil
