Stack height. When I've encountered this before we have to disassemble and check everything twice. Add another steel to the pack should take care of it.

I think a few of them may be bent also, could that do it too(when I try and laungh it,it feels like it makes it worse, even kills the motor at idle, too much pull, not enough rpms.

Nah...your stack height is too low...not too high.
Basically the puller shaft isnt being "pulled" out far enough to disengage the plates from each other.
Had the same thing happen when I put mine back together the other night...added another thinner steel back to back with a steel and fixed it right up.

well, Bergie AND YCIS agree that MORE stack height is needed when the clutch doesn't fully disengage. These guys are experienced.
Jeez, my bike must be backwards or something, cause that's just the opposite of mine. If my stack is too thick (high), the clutch won't disengage properly, just like Joey's is doing.
Huh???

Mine was creepy when my stack heigth was too high. I could barely get enough adjustment to to make it not creep.

If its too high wouldn't that not allow the clutch puller to be able to pull out far enough. Think about when the clutch pack wears, the stack height decreases and the clutch slips.

My .02 is "TOO High" When the plates warp, and you pull in the lever and it does not disengage! It is not because you have too "Much" Space, it is because you have too little! Some Clutch plates (Friction) are thicker and also some compress more than others! Barnett is noted for this!) You may need to belt sand the friction plates a little if there is no way to remove a steel plate!

I love the irony of how this odd problem has us on completely opposing sides, , (add another, no, you're too high already!) hehehe
anyway, I vote for adding a thin steel also. I've encountered that problem several times myself.
No matter, I sure hope you fix the problem in time for the shootout! It can be a bitch to hold back at the staging lights when your clutch is creepin' !!!

ZXLNT! Exactly! Does anyone think that they cannot run out of room if they continue to add plates!
