It's not the 0 weight oil that BROCK is talking bout. It's the less than <0 zero weight oil he is referring to !!!! And i wonder why Alisyn is the only company that makes a less than zero weight oil. Redline makes a 2 weight oil thats kinda close to it in comparison. Rickey Gadson used some of the Redline 2 weight oil in his 2008 Kawasaki ZX14 when testing it when they first came out and it made good horsepower too with less than a 100 miles on it....

in an all motor application, I can see it........
With having your own atmosphere in a bottle, or hairdryer........, I do not see the need........ ,make the power elsewhere, and be a little safer on the bottom end.......

Less than <0 weight oil is alot thinner and lighter than 0W-20 weight...0W-20 is essentially a 20 straight grade race oil !!! What kinda testing are you suppose to be doing over at Andy's ?

wreck,
this oil viscosity vs hp thing never seems to go away, eh?
for sure viscosity has got to be matched to motor set up (bearing clearances, operating oil temp, etc) if you want longevity, but what if a short engine life is OK for yr purpose?
My primary reason for dyno on fri is throttle bodies, but after that I might drain my Motul 15W50 and do a back-to-back test of AMSOIL 5w20.
why the oil viscosity test when ZRXDean already did a test way back when of that Alisyn <0 and got no hp gain?
Just cause I wanna see for myself what (if anything) all the light oil hoo-ha is about.
I'm gonna tear down the motor on Sat to build a fresh Loring motor so this is a good time to satisfy my curiosity.

Karl, are you going to measure the oil temps, to make sure they are comparable during the pulls?

Karl, what 5w20 will you be using? The AMSOIL Dominator is thier highest hp oil, not by much, but it is........

NOX, NOX, NOX...
I'm shocked, that you would think for even a second that I would try a light viscosity test on any other oil than AMSOIL Dominator.
It IS what you recommended, isn't it???
SHOCKED!

wreck,
this is not an exotic TB test. I normally run OS tapered throat TB's (48mm blades), but Gary loaned me his straight throat 48's for a test.
I sure do like tests.

Karl, you should also, try a sample of Abita, Turbo Dog,, while you are doing it, it may help in the testing........, the oil should be around 120 degrees, the abita, should be at 32.5 degrees....., no warmer than 34 degrees.......

There are not very many people who want to bother with the 12 anymore, so it maybe a little hard to find someone. It may also be rather expensive for the relative HP gain, especially on a stock or street application. Orient Express did mine about 5 years ago.......................says so on the blades, lol.

Afternoon gents, I don't own a bike( just layin that out there), but I was looking through the 1st round of google results and came across this site referencing the Alisyn >>>0W oil. I just thought I'd share that I use a mix of 0W-20 and >>>0w in my (don't laugh) Mitsubishi Evo IX. For my ride I gain about 15 hp and a quicker spool up on my turbo, which equals area under the curve. I only have about 425 hp at the wheels. I track the car occasionally at PBIR on the road course with the same oil and no ill effects. My ride also has about 40,000 miles on it with Alisyn. FYI I don't work for Alisyn, again, just thought I'd share my success.

Yeah, it dropped it a little, maybe 5 psi, from my original reading. It dropped a hair more after a good 10-20 min session. I expected that. Scott Stuckenberg, which is who I talk with over there, said I may even get the oil light. That hasn't happened. He also commented about the flow of oil being greater when the oils is as thin as they run it. I used to worry about every little thing initially, but its been running so well, for so long, I don't think about it anymore. I just can't figure out why more people aren't running it. Take care guys.

Curious what you see for oil pressure at idle and what is the max set at?
BTW, nice to have you on a bike board.
