WHO'S DRAG RACING WITH A STEP HINDLE PIPE?
Is anyone out there using one of the new "step Hindle" pipes for the 12R that drag races frequently???
I'm still searching around, but I'm "questioning" whether I've lost about 1.5 - 2.0 mph since using this pipe.
My 1/8th mph seems normal, but 1/4 mph has been down and I'm trying to figure out why.
Thanks for any input!

I'M done for the year but i never lost any mph in the 1/4.My opinion is the Hindle step pipe is the best pipe out there right now,Although i have not tried the ti force tapered header.

I was running great until a mishap, the pipe is great. Are you running a stock engine?

here's the deal,........and my thoughts.......
The engine is indeed stock 'fastestr1'. Valve cover never off. Stock displacement.
TurboBlew: The PCIIIR was set up on a DJ250 to read about 13.0 or 13.2 A/F ratio.
My HMF pipe was (incidentally) measured at 12.0 and 12.5 A/F ratio right before putting the Hindle on some time ago.
With that in mind. I added 5% fuel at 100% throttle AT THE TRACK over the weekend and put BACK IN the timing we took out on the DJ250 as a test. (went from 5 degrees to 2 and made like 1 hp through the curve on a warm day, on the dyno.)
Unfortunately, I only got one pass this past weekend with those settings, but, it was my best pass of the day. It was 6:00pm, average weather, sun was *starting* to set, but my mph seemed to pick up about .87mph. Inconclusive at best, so far.
I'm trying Nutec and Bear stacks now too (past 2 weeks) and haven't added anything for that. Maybe I need to add a couple more percent to my A/F ratio?
Can't wait to go test some more.

So why don't you? 3 inches doesn't make that much difference on the street, unless you're EBoz. Imagine full throttle launches....

BA...Your motor is bone stock???...The reason why you lost MPH is the Nutec gas!!!..I know 4 guys that used the nutec on a stock motor and lost MPH...They drained it at the track and put 92 pump gas in and got back the lost MPH!!!...I also was told to use 89 octane due to it being more oxygenated then 91 +
But if your timing is bumped up dont use the 89!!!

dude, you better shut up about those full throttle launches!!! :-D :-) Do you know what I think I could do with those 3 inches?!!?!?! I'd be looking at some teens!!
Crotch, yup my motor is bone stock! I didn't know about stock motors and nutec being bad for mph. Heck, I've seen Busas, GSXR 1k's and GSXR600s all gain 5-8 hp on a dyno with the darn stuff. Hmmmmmm.
ALright though, I will try normal gas and see what happens!!!
I really thought I read a thread on here long ago where someone dynod with nutec and then the Alisyn oil and Nutec got them HP and the oil did not. :-/
No problem though. I will use reg. gas next time and see what happens.
Wayne, you are talking about Florida, right???

I did the dyno test at Kevin's shop - 4hp/1ftlb on my motor. I know Nutec makes almost a tenth of difference in John's 12 at Gville with no mapping changes. Good stuff.
The way you ride BA even a little arm would cut 2 tenths off your 330s I bet...

No way BA !
Man don't go with the arm, it's so cool to see the times you are running all stock (kinda). I can see you knocking off a couple 10ths but it would be almost common to fly with an arm.
Think about it............9.20's with stock arm. You can do it!

I may have found my lost mph!!
I was testing on the dyno again and found that the 3 bolts that hold the left access cover to the throttle bodies had loosened themselves about 1/4"-3/8".
Enough to let the cover move up and down a little.
I'm sure that's going to hurt my ram-air on the big end,....just need to make some runs and see what happens!
Also, strangely, I think that I lost 2hp with this damn chain! Piece of crap!
Gotta buy a new one just to be sure but the season is practically over. That kinda sucks.

BA, why did you switch from the HMF to the Hindle? The Hindle making more ponies?

Just testing Alan. The HMF was fine, but got scratched up a bit in a hydro-planing incident.
The Hindle was giving me a couple more ponies, but, I think I've taken a step backwards with a chain swap I had to do. I think I'll be right back up top with a new chain.
