I Got An "A" (License)

Racheal and I decided last minute to run her Turbo Busa at Maxton this weekend. She has made numerous 202-204 mph runs on it in the past. I had only ridden it at 6 psi, and it is very conservatively tuned with low compression, lots of timing pulled, rich map, etc. I ran 190 mph on that setup while she ran up to 194 on it.

So, I figured I would give it a go and see if I could get my A license without too much drama. We both decided that we would be happy to make 2 passes each over the weekend. I was first up:

Is that close enough for you? I wasn't go to take my A license on that pass. I wanted over 200. Racheal ran the bike next and caught a cross wind and had to back out of it...strolling through at 187 mph.

I'll make the rest of the story short. The next morning I adjusted the boost controller up a little in the top two gears. The run went well:

Got my A! I was pretty happy with that, especially knowing how much the bike still has left in it. We checked the bike over and Racheal got ready to make her final pass for the weekend. She wasn't too worried about hitting any number, just having a smooth run. The PA was down at the starting line..so I didn't get to hear her number. When I arrived in the pits, she handed me this:

Nice!

Anyway, it was a great weekend. There are quite a few stories from the event, and I have lots of photo's...but I'm just too tired to do anything more tonight.

Shane

Thanks Guys; it was a lot of fun and I increased my personal best by nearly 17 mph. It was a great way to start the season.

And for a mild street setup, Racheal was definitely moving at 211 mph!

I've thought about it; I'm a little nervous about running the Turbo for that long wide open...stock pistons and rods. I don't see a problem with heat...the a/f is pretty fat and plenty of timing pulled. Maybe I'm too conservative?

I'm sure the 14 would be fine...
