i was under the impression you were just supposed to thread them in till they stopped(hand tight, which wouldnt be very much, probly close to Karls torque spec?)
if you back them out some, you arent using evey possible thread, even if it is just a tiny bit. using lock tite would keep them from spinning out when you take the head off next time which would be a good thing.

Here is another! I use Green Loctite and double nut them and screw them in TIGHT! I have never looked at the torque wrench but my guess would be 8 to 10 PSI There is a feel I have and when using a Short Ratchet you are only so strong. My fear is not to have them tight and locked then from the heat of the engine they losen up (Not turn out just able to be turned my hand) and they unscrew when you try to take the nut off and then you have defeated the Purpose of using Studs! Saving the Threads in the case and more torque

I was told to back them out a little because the heat expansion is different between the steel and aluminum. If they were all the way in then it would have no place to expand but up and stress the block threads.

With that thinking, should it not be the same with the Head Bolts? They are Steel and the Block is Still Aluminum!

Remember the Hole gets BIGGER with heat and you want it tight to stay tight!

Is that a Question? or a statement vs the Studs? I do not think my studs bottomed out! of course I have ALL Studs (the rest of them made by Raceware)
