Is it really possible??? 9.20's? 'stock'

Ok guys,....and girls, well, HC Candy and ZX12Girl.

I'm really excited!! Not only is my consistency getting better, but I'm have not been wheelying at the top of first as much as earlier in the year.

But even better than that (!), I have several additions/changes to the bike that I'm hoping will make me faster than last year!
This Thursday, I'll have most of those additions on the bike and will shoot for a personal best!

The cool part is that I'm still stock motored and stock arm'd, with (for now) a stock/OEM type of tire. (Pilot)
And yes, I still ride it on the street all the time!

My question for you guys is, do you think I'll pull a 9.2x on a SWB, stock motor, stock(ish) tire??

I think I will! :-D (and I'm excited as hell about it too, can't ya tell?)

Thursday is T&T, so I should have info on Friday. Video too of course!

Ok, I'll fess up, some of my additions are easily recognizeable, but not everyone does *all* of them, ya know?

+1T rear sprocket, non-O-ring chain + pushed tire back to end of adjustment, Nutec, BEAR stacks, and,....it won't be so damn humid! Should be really nice air Thursday.

My old chain was fubar'd. Looked great, not too greasy, but with 10k hard miles on it, it DID NOT move very freely!
I'm sure that was costing me a couple of hundredths right there! (even my dyno runs were squiggly up top)

I can't wait for T&T~!!! Wooohoooo!

I have no doubt you can do it BA, certainly with the stinky stuff and good weather. You're pretty close already, right? low 30s? What are your best 330s? best MPH?

Can you list all your mods - "for the record" - total weight & RWHP?

I know you will BA,just don't gain any weight-lol,you were close before, and believe it or not, last year, there was a small black guy riding a green one who allegedly went 9.25's on a 12 set up like yours,he did it again this year when Muzzys debut of the SBS turbo 12 in(I think)Vegas,I know it was the event the turbo 12 had mechanical problems, they said he went 148mph and the bike was short,w/no motor mods.Either way, since I never saw it,If you do it,in my book, you'll be the first!!!You know,at one time,a few years back,I weighed around 140lbs,then I started working out(and using suppliments,}nowI weigh around 180lbs,it's amazing how much faster in the 1/4 I use to be on my 98 zx-9,9.90's@140mph,and my friend Niel on his 00R1,slammed,swb,m4 pipe,he weighs 120 lbs and went(first run ever)9.74@142mph,6.12 in the 8th at 118mph,I still have the time slips, all 9.7's w/a 1.55 60'.Light weight, plus good talent=rare, but legit times-YOU CAN DO IT BA!!WER'E BEHIND YOU!

You better hurry BA, my son will be taking his 12 to Bristol next week-end and is shooting for ya!!
He was REALLY impressed with your times at Indy. I'll keep you posted, I think he might get in the 30's. We are headed to Maxton this week-end to see what he can run on the big end.
Glad you liked the pic's.
Dan
P.S. I believe you can do it !!!

"Can you list all your mods - "for the record" - total weight & RWHP? "

Dean, I had a string of 9.3x's last year and a 9.30 as my LAST run of the year in cool weather at 9pm at night, but this year, it's been all 9.44-9.51's in all kinds of weather conditions, but none were 'cool autumn weather'.
That's another reason I'm hoping for the best.....cool weather is here!
Well, that and I replaced my chain which I THOUGHT was good, but actually was stiff and obviously trashed. No tellin' how long it's been that way.

The bike weighed 520lbs at Indy. I'm 140 and I guess 10lbs for leathers/boots/helmet, etc. So, I'd guess around 670lbs total.

It's normal mods up till now. -1T front sprocket, stock rear, HMF pipe (Hindle now though), K&N's, PCIIIR, Kennedy's links lowered a LOT. Strapped of course, till bottem of ram air sits just barely above fender. Muzzy billet basket and modded hub, synth oil, proper break-in to 2k miles, premium pump gas, taped off ram air pockets.
Nothing exciting, ya know? Just a good mentor, some good Busa competition and a boatload of runs the past few years on different bikes.

If you look at my pic in the "thanks to oldkawboy" thread, you can see that I get my body up on that tank real good for the launch.

My 330's lately have been 4.11-4.18 but last year (autumn) I was getting lot's of 4.0's. 4.04 was best, 4.07-4.09 more common with the really good runs.

HEY DAN!!! I remember your boy being good on the 12, but I can't remember just HOW good! Sounds like a competition to see who can get the first 9.3x this year! He must be running 9.4x a lot too?

INTRA, your buddy Niel was riding that R1 like a Mu'Fu'!! I've NEVER seen anyone drag an R1 very well. (not like it's easy, it ain't!)
Congrats to him and you too. 9's on a pre-2000 9R is awesome.

Sure hope I get to use the BEAR stacks Thursday....

With some real killer air, I'll bet you can do it. I'm pretty sure I picked up almost 2 mph with a non o-ring chain. Set my personal et best at my home track with 9.31 last weekend. Course I gotta few more cc's working for me. I'm thinking some lead shot in the forks might get me in the teens with some good air.

BA, I am in the same boat as you. I had been running consistant low 9.40s@150-151mph durng the winter and spring this year. Best was a 9.35@151.70mph and 9.38 as a back up. Took a couple months off and went back in June and only managed 9.50s@147-148. Put in a new clutch, checked plugs, hoses, map, etc and went back several times over the summer. Did manage to get back in the 9.45 range but at only 148mph on average and a few 149s. Definetly 2-3mph off, even in the 1/8 I am 2mph off. I am hoping its just the heat and humidity but.... 14k hard miles, maybe its wearing out? I was hoping for consistant 9.30s@150mph, stock wheelbase, BT010 tire and only +1 tooth in the rear. This is a busa though. I to am hoping that the bike will pick back up in the winter but...kinda have my doubts. I just got my ass handed to me a few hours ago by a 1397 busa, 70mph-180mph, he put about 7-8 links on me. Damn I need to build a motor

Ken, are you guys fixing the busa?

BTW my 60's range from 1.56-1.63s and when I am riding with my head out of my ass, I average 1.61s or so. My 330's are 4.10-4.16 but I have had a few 4.08s. Bike dynoed 176hp back in December but recently only dynoed 165hp on a different dyno in June. Numbers doubt add up to 165hp though. I weigh about 165lbs suited and the so raceweight is about 685lbs. When I get consistant I will splash in some Nuetec and hope for a 9.29

With the usual stuff lowered straped, mcr tire full hindle billet basket,
oh yea I had air shifter.
I've been breaking in a big-bore the last couple of weekends on the street.
It's very streetable and man it hits in the high rpm's

for what it's worth.....

My last Test & Tune session with all that new stuff was an odd assortment of ups and downs.

Local track rained out on Thursday, so went to Cincy on Sat. afternoon.
-ie. No cool evening air.

No traction problems with the Schinko at 25lbs.

Forgot my laptop for possible tweaking!

1/8th MPH was real good, 1/4 MPH was down about 2-2.5mph on average.

Weather was nice, but nothing spectacular. upper 70's and sunny.

The +1 sprocket was too much, making me shift about 50'-100' before finish-line.

Best run was:
0.545 1.578 4.068 6.11/121.09mph 9.395/147.2mph

....WITH A 1st gear power-wheelie!! It's on film if anyone wants to host.

BA,
Chad's best was a 9.44 at 151 this past Thursday. It was still warm and humid, especially for this time of the year. We are going back in two weeks, hopefully for some 9.30's. He needs some seat time on the 12 for sure.
You are THE MAN !! It's evident by the bullseye on the back of your leathers.
