Adams Straight Link?
Other than ground clearance, I have read that the straight link will change the suspension leverage and help keep the bike from compressing the shock as much on launch.
Has this been your experience with the product? My bike squats 4" on launch right now, which is causing some fender clearance issues.

It will tighten the shock up. I never tried it with a stock shock, I had my shock re-valved, re-sprung, and shortened by 1" when I installed the straightlink. I absolutely love it. Stock suspension is real soft, and my bike would squat big time before. Now my suspension is real tight, but works perfectly for my set-up.

I would make sure you have the rebound slowed down, as it will make the rebound harder as well....., with a built shock, should not be a prob
something to think about.......

If you didn't ask for it to be shortened, then chances are it wasn't.

I called Schnitz today and the tech told me that the link was made to increase ground clearance, and that any change in the suspension rate was an unwanted byproduct.
I then called Adams and they verified that the product is for ground clearance; specifically for classes the have special clearance requirements.
I'm not saying it won't help, just passing on the info relayed to me...

I would not use a straightlink on a stock suspension set-up.

Adams recommended a revalved shock....they said it takes about a week to do.
How long was your shock out, Pat? You sent yours somewhere else, or did it go through Adams?
I have a line on a new Penske for $759 also...I really like the Penske's.

I went through Adam's. Mine was about a week and a half. My buddy sent his on a Monday and had it back on a Friday. Location/delivery times will vary.
While they have, might as well get them to shorten it too. Mine has been shortened 1" and re-sprung. They need to know your weight (suited), wheelbase, and rear wheel horsepower.

do it Shane, you KNOW you want to, send off that shock!
after all the blood, sweat & tears you have put into yr ride, waiting a couple weeks for a modded shock/spring will be well worth it!

I just ordered a custom Penske shock today.
I'm not sure if I will run a straight link or not; probably so, for the clearance.
I'm going to take a little extra time setting the bike up; I may miss an early event or two. But I'd rather have everything done right.
