You are right the N20 will raise the cylinder pressure, not the compression ratio. The effect is really hard to predict because the juice has a three fold effect. 1.) More O2 %, 2.) Denser charge due to cooling of the available atmospheric air and 3.) Higher cylinder pressure (resulting in what you called "Dynamic Compression") due to the slight supercharging effect.

Dr. Gary, I may not understand all that I just read from Dr. Doug, but I can tell you one thing for sure that 1350 is good and 1600 is BAD I have seen Bad and it is Fugly! I made great HP on a Big shot of nos at the hight 10 to 1 to mid 11 to 1 A/F and always saw EGT in the 13's The day of the 1800 degrees it was 16 to 1 A/F. Make sure how ever you set up the engine that it is Dam Fool Proof in Adjustments! Also remember that the NOS Is abrasive and slowly enlarges the Brass Jets so from time to time KNOW the flow RATES of what you are using so later when you check them you will know how much time it took for the increase in flow!

must be in such small qauntities that it does not wipre out rings and seats then? or will the motor eventually erode from spraying?

while its true that brass jets are eroded by the flow of gas and nitrous (why SS jets are considered better), according to NX the duration of time required to make them inaccurate would take about a million yrs.

It's not abrasive like -"gritty" or anything. High pressure gas through a small, relatively soft material (like brass) orifice will erode the material over time.
Ever see a water jet cutter?

Could you largely eliminate the issue by using stainless steel jets?

Exactly and there is less flow change by the heat and cold in the operation!

Since I now have an egt sensor to play with, I was curious what a good N/A ZX-12 exhaust temp should run around?
Thanks,

makes me wonder why they don't come with 321SS jets right off the bat.
Doug, i've seen a waterjet.. where i worked as a machinst,.. we had a ginormous one there.. but they DO use abrasives in their cutting action!!
understand the erosion now.. i worked at a paper mill for a long time..(before being a machinist) and what paper pulp (@90% water by weight) does to a 20" stainless impeller is greusome. these are impellers that weight like 50+ lbs.. worn to a shiny smooth nub in no time..

They use everything from diamond to soft media to nothing depending on what they are cutting.

Jim,
I'm going to guess that Waspaloy is named as such because it was developed by Pratt and Whitney (who made the Wasp, Wasp Junior, and 4000 hp Wasp Major radials). Those engines had some severe exhaust valve requirements!
A lot of those Superalloys were developed during those days.

My FIRST Knowledge of Exhaust Valves and their limits came when I put the Mcllough Supercharger Kit that came on some of the 1954 Kaisers on my 1953 Kaiser. The car made good power to run against the 292 Fords and stock 265 Chevys! I would hook up the belt before the race (It Sounded like a Tea Kettle on the boil) and took the belt off after the race! The "Problem" came when I decided to leave it on full time! Eventually I could only have Girl Friends that lived on Steep Hills or had Tall Driveways (Needed to get the car up to speed to get it started with my now SUPER LOW Compression engine! )
Whay did I know about Sodium Filled Exhaust valves??

Henry J was his first name! They are also the same Kaiser as in Kaiser Health Care. The Industrial "Contenental" engine was a flat head and strong piece of equipment. You could run it all day long! The Wierd Engine was in the Kaiser Darren that had Overhead Valve Intake and side Valve Exhaust The wierd thing was that the doors slid into the front fender!

Here is the Super Charger set up!

What My car looked like but was Silver Gray and what a Front seat! Was approved for 4 people (So I never had to use the back seat and the tunnel hump was low!
