i put them on like this. i was able to use the instructions in the manual to put them in using the "dots" like the stock "lines". i set the sprockets in the middle of the adjustment range initially, checked the cam timing, and was able to adjust one to where i needed it without jumping any teeth on the sprocket, the other one was allmost there, but i had to jump one tooth on the sprocket/ chain to get the CL number i was after.
Inlet cam has the "I" on it(left side)

just get them close going by the lobes. if the hub isnt quite in the right spot, you may need to jump a tooth on the chain to get the CL where you want it. no big deal. you could really have the hub pressed on where ever, as long as the CL is in the right spot it doesnt matter where the marks are, its just easier if the marks are close to stock to use the manual as a guide.

Do you have stock cams for reference.
If so, make the last lobe on both stock and new cams point straight up and make the new sprockets marking line up like the stockers.
Be very careful turning the engine just in case you are off. They will get dialed in during the degree process.

and make sure the dial indicator only touches the bucket! i was having a hell of a time my first go around at it because the cam is not perfectly round on the non machined areas. one spot of the cam would touch and throw off the reading. i couldnt figure out why i had no ptv at 105ish. turned out it was really 99. took an afternoon and a couple phone calls to Karl and i got it figued out.

i wouldnt want to degree them my first time when they were in the bike. for someone who has done it a hundred times no big deal imo, but it was challenging enough out of the bike(not saying dont try it though, just be aware its tough the first time). thinking pretty hard about getting the cams turned down to 3/4in on the ends. would make things go much smoother

Do you have an OE service manual? The drawings in there are true ,
so you should be able to roughly set them in like that.
Have you already pressed the adjustable sprockets on or is that what you are working on?

You will owe me exactly 1 very cold beer sometime soon...
(Viewed from the R side of the motor, #8 lobes will be about 9:30 (int) and 2:30 (exh) when #1 cyl is at TDC)
