Ti and bung holes

ok, quit laughing, i have a problem

how do I go about putting a bung on my Ti Hindle for my wideband O2 sensor? do I need to get a Ti bung and have it tigged?($$) can i use an SS bung? mild steel? I ended up putting a steel nut on my Muzzy SS with silver solder (brazed) as it didnt stick well to the SS bung that came with the LM-1(bung must have been better quality SS than the pipe) can I braze a steel nut to Ti?
thx

Yes, you need a Ti bung. They are available from Yoshimura. Must be Tig welded. LSL

ya.. i don't think theres too many dissimilar metals that can be welded together.. Ti is an exotic like inconel.. silicon and carbon content is vastly different.. you can weld carbon/mild steels to stainless via 309 rod, but only carbon to stainless and only 309.

i think certain cast irons will weld to carbon steels, and some al alloys will weld to other al alloys.. not 7075 tho.. it can be brazed and thats about it.

a tig rig is a worthy investment and tigging is really easy once you get the coordination down!

(i KNOW yo could put a tig welder to use.. buy one! then.. but me one too..)

i think tiggin Ti is kinda funny i hear.. from a metallurgist i know at boeing. i KNOW inconel welds funny.. has a skin or sorts over the puddle.. never welded Ti yet.
