Head/base gasket compressed thickness

I have a Cometic C8641 gasket for my 1270, is says .030 on the back of the package, i assume that is compressed thickness? What is the compressed thickness of the stock base gasket / block shim? If i leave out the base gasket do i then need to use any kind of sealer instead?

if you leave it out make sure you measure squish. use what ever you use on the cases to seal the block to the cases

That would be the compressed thickness. I recollect the stocker at .010". If you do not use the base gasket use some Three Bond 1211 VERY sparingly, same as recommended on the cases.
