Yeah, the swivel style only really works on ID's. The triangular blade works on ID's, OD's, straights, you name it. They can also be used at positive or negative angles. I have the hollow-ground (concave) style with the blood grooves. Unfortunately, the tool supply store where I bought mine closed down 10 years ago, so I can't give you any part numbers.

I have never heard of that triangular knife; Garage Barbies suggested looking in my Granddad's ole tool maker chest. His tools haven't been used since 1920's and i inherited them from my Dad a few years ago.
WHOA!
Is this one of them???

Yep.
BTW, I think it's time for a Garage Barbie group shower - they're working hard and getting a little greasy.

NICE! Don't lose that one Karl. It looks like it has some history.
Nothing works like a triangular scraper. It is the perfect tool for the romancing of the parts.

ya.. i'm am pretty sure you can get those triangular blades thru MSC or another machining supply outlet.
i KNOW i've seen them.
i've figured out how to use my swivel one on o.d. and other applications as well..
not as easy as the tri, not still achieve nice results. got lots of practice on $15,500 keyboards and $40,000 cabinets make from 6061 plate.
(yes, i said 15K keyboard.)
gotta love gubmint stuff.

Yes, your tool is thicker, but overall it is shorter, maybe "fit for purpose" for the Chin GB(s)
My GB's seem to be more comfortable with a longer, more slender tool, and there is no "stabbing" going on.
They say they find the pointed end and sharp edges "exciting".
But, they apparently primarily employ the blunt end in whatever shenanigans they are up to once i leave the garage and they are off the clock.

Doug, that's EXACTLY what the GB's said!
