small fuel cells

I want to get a slightly bigger tank for my wet kit (small tank for C-16). I was using a small gas tank I got from a chainsaw shop off of a tiller or leaf blower or something allong those lines lol. I want something safer. something about 1.5 litres. aluminum would be nice, but a certified plastic tank would work too. any ideas? Jegs has 1 gal tanks. they are too big
thx

thx Mike. ill hold off on a custom setup for a bit. Im friends with an excellent tig welder that works with big industrial stuff, a lot of aluminum. I would probly get him to weld up a custom tank i design if i go that route. its a day trip to get to his shop though. (he did the oil pans i made)

Scott,
I have a Full Bore cap on my tank that I made for my bike. It is a great cap with a nice o-ring seal but the cap is not vented. It isn't a big deal.

What I did when I made the tank was weld a small NPT bung on the top of the tank then just put in a 90 degree fitting with a barb type end and run a small piece of rubber fuel hose somewhere towards the ground.

Problem solved.

I suppose you could drill and tap the cap itself if you really wanted to.

Scott, with your skills, You should be able to make a full light weight cardboard tank.

Also, I was thinking,

how long would it take you to fab me some cardboard wheels......, they would blow BST's out of business............

i'm looking at getting some kind of cell built for the part of the frame were the battery is. my tank is all ready cut down to right where the bracket for the tank cover is. i got to lift the tank up to fill it up with gas. but i have been thinking about how i could cut every thing else out and just leave the shell. but i would like to some how lower it down about 1to 2in. its going to be tricky getting it and the tank cover and seat to line back up were it all still looks stock.

have you thought about just doing a half tank like the one in this thread?

another great reason to have a syncrowave sitting at the shop.

i miss out on all the fun.

.125 would be a little thinker than you need IMO, unless it'll be subjected to some sort of physical regulatory crap for abuse..

i have some .090 sheet that i'll fab my intake manifold with. i think its a 5 series aluminum.. very bendable, decent tensile strength, creep, modulus and all those metallurgy goodies..
would carbon fiber with a bladder hold up? you wanna go light AND pretty, THERES your ticket!!

I want a tig too
1/8 is overkill, but its what i have lying around CF would be the hot ticket, but too much other stuff to buy....Its probly going to be hidden in the tail anyway. i dont like the idea of hanging a nitrous or co2 bottle off the side of my bike, so i have to put them in the swingarm or in the tail.
I have tons of room in the +6in tail for a good sized gas tank big enough for LSR use. last yr i hid a 2 pound nitrous bottle in there with most of my electronics, a fuel pump, and small tank. im upgrading to a 5 pounder and its going in the arm where the co2 bottle was. ill put the co2 bottle in the tail and have room for a bigger fuel tank with room to spare.
