Very few people that still DragRace a Stock wheelbase 12, it's too much of a challenge fighting the wheelies and 1.60s 60'...
I am one of the few DragRacing a 12 @ 61 inches!!!...WITHOUT all those trick go fast and super low goodies...
12s are great for certain index classes or bracket racing!!!

also depends on whether or not a good clutch tune is in it, to make it keep that front end down..................
a lock up will be more consistent than the left hand of anyone here........., but, on a short wb bike, it can be tricky at best if the wrong tune is in it.............
woppi is like 60" wb I believe............

It is doable........
I would go with a multi at short wb. But, with some of my special tricks, and some machining, a two stage can work very well.........
I tossed the clutch at 64 inches with a two stage muzzy. Even back when I did not know all that I know now........ It had some of my father in laws special machining, like he used to do for some of the pro stock car clutches.....

quote: Who is dragracing a SWB ZX12 and what are the fastest 1/8 mile and 60 ft times around? Is a lock up clutch and SWB a good combination? My clutch is stock and has been working fine since i modified it for better lubrication like the kit from Muzzy, i am careful about checking stack height. For rear tire i am using road racing take offs like Pirelli Supercorsa Pro. I have 2" lowering blocks in the fork (straps are not allowed here in Denmark and Sweden where i race) and Adams adjustable lowering links. Have you checked out this guy from Sweden, he is going 5,57/133 mph in the 1/8 mile on his 1427 ZX12 60 inch wheelbase foot shifting no lock up: http://flynordicracing.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Like you I have a stock wheelbase zx12. My 60 fts used to be 1.8s and I'd run 6.7s. They dropped to 6.5s and about the same 60fts as you run now, 1.7s. I started going some 1.6s and they dropped down even more. I also have the full muzzys clutch as well as the internally lowered front forks (I think 2 or 2.25 inches). I run the same tire you do too. This pass was done without nitrous oxide, motor had stiffer valve springs. I think my gearing was 17/46 or 16/44, the latter giving you a bit more wheelbase:

Shipteey, good to know it´s possible to do what i have in mind. Is it you in the right or left lane? Was your engine stock besides the stiffer valvesprings? Did you have a sidewinder and a cut oilpan? Have you shaved weight off the bike? Do you have an airshifter/quickshifter? What do you weigh? I have my engine out because it's getting the 1270 kit and i will put in stiffer valvesprings if it helps performance, do you have them because your rev limiter is extended? Have you dragraced it swb using nitrous?

Mikkel, if your going to put all that $$$ into your 12, then do it and make it long...You will make life alot easier for yourself when DragRacing the 12...
By the way the fastest I have been on my 61inch 12 without any fancy mods, just a pipe, gearing, mr9, Billet Basket, no PC, foot shifting, Pirelli SuperCorsa sc2, bike weighs 510 wet with 1 1/2 gallons of gas, and i weigh 170 plus racing gear is 9.11 @ 154 in 55 degree weather...

Shipteey, good to know it´s possible to do what i have in mind. Is it you in the right or left lane?
----Right.
Was your engine stock besides the stiffer valvesprings?
----Yes, however transmission was beefed up/undercut and don't forget the Muzzys Clutch.
Did you have a sidewinder and a cut oilpan?
----No, forks were lowered in the front internally, strapped with the rear lowering link middle hole.
Have you shaved weight off the bike?
----Considerably including single front brakes up front, race front upper cowl, carbon fiber solo tail, fiberglass step seat, carbon fiber wheels, lighter rear rotor, full muzzys titanium exhaust.
Do you have an airshifter/quickshifter?
----I do now but that run was footshifted.
What do you weigh?
----About 120s on a fat day.
I have my engine out because it's getting the 1270 kit and i will put in stiffer valvesprings if it helps performance, do you have them because your rev limiter is extended?
----Stiffer valve spring are in it because I have the extended revs in the ecu. I don't shift too late in the revs because the bike falls too much past peak power for my liking, however it is good insurance, especially on nitrous. Its nice to have though when you're going head to head against someone and don't want to slow down with that last second upshift before the traps (depends on how you gear your bike too!)
Have you dragraced it swb using nitrous?
----Yes, but that was before that pass, haven't run since I don't think. Earlier that year I had a 1.69 60 ft and went 9.46 @ 155 mph. Trapped about 123 mph at the 1/8th mile, 30-40 shot dry.

Lightening up the bike is nice, but if you are sticking with the drag strip runs, I'd leave the headlight in (ballast) as well as the complete front brakes. Carbon wheels are nice but they make the front lighter too. I think if I go back again with some practice runs I can go 9.2s to 9.3s lowered another inch, especially because I have an air shifter now and a progressive nitrous kit which allows the power to come on earlier, smoother, and less wheelie prone. 8.99 on a stock wb would be awesome...especially on an essentially stock motor...working on it...
Good luck.

It was a 1361cc stroker....
..... But Shhhhhh! Nobody is suppose to know that since he ran it in the 1350cc class at Maxton to get into the 200mph club. Ever since the cat was let out of the bag, he stopped hanging around the forums.
Last time I seen him was in October 07 at Maxton when he blew it up on the juice. Perhaps he's out of the game now?
