ping Y2K: fuel injectors

Hey Jim,
Tomorrow I am sending my RC-370's to Tim Marren for testing and comparison w/the 2 experimental sets he is making. I never called him, got busy at work

Folks here may be interested in this experiment if it has gotten far enough.

Ok Karl, sounds good.

He just cleaned mine, so I have the #s on my 2000 injectors as well.
He may have the two sets done for us by now.

Pete, yea thats Tims place, Marren Fuel Injection. Do you still have the test sheet on your injectors?

(i'm just riding on his coat tails)

He is pals with Tim Marren, injector guru (google Marren Motorsports); Tim & Jim are experimenting.

Yup. The stock injectors have been running close to 100% with fuel at 60psi.

My engine is getting a bit more displacement this winter, so I'll need even more. :d

hey Jim,
i got my cleaned rc370'S back from Tim Marren; very little difference before/after (apparently they were already clean. No comments about spray pattern other than "GOOD", or "OK" or somesuch.

He also measures flow at 6ms, which doesn't allow me to compare his results with RC's spec of 370???

Have you talked with him about how the RC's compare with his suggested injectors for our application?

Karl, I have the new injectors from Tim. The stockers with his test configuration flow 355cc/min and the new ones flow 440cc/min.
A 24% increase.

Yes we talked at length about the "RC" injectors and injectors in general. They are actually Lucas disc type injectors. Lucas went out of buisness and was bought by another company. RC doesnt manufacture injectors they rebadge. You can do some research into lucas disc injectors on the net....

Tim tests with the "fuels" SG and temp controlled. This keeps viscosities constant. His lab and equipment temp never varies by more than 1 degree and the test fluid temp doesnt vary.

Factory injectors for the 12r are Nippondenso and these are Bosch that have been machined to fit the fuel rail without any spacers etc.

You should call tim and discuss the "RC" vs the ones he just made for me. I'll let him go into it all. Hes the FI guy.

He makes injectors, fuel rails, regulators etc. for the Busas as well.

Jim - I've been trying all week to get ahold of Tim about some higher-flow injectors for my race bike, and he hasn't returned any of my calls. Is there a secret passphrase I can use?

My fuel map is saturating my stock injectors and it's throwing FI error codes.

You have to know the secret handshake. No, seriously I have no idea.

Tim, I dunno. He may be on the road. Hes a very busy man, not that thats an excuse but...
I have a fresh set of zx12r injectors just cleaned and tested if they will help ya?
I have a few sets and dont need them, was going to put them on ebay.

Karl, Are you running a fuel rail damper? Are you seeing any needle bounce at any particular rpm?

nope no rail damper, and i didn't notice any needle bounce when i had a fuel press gauge mounted.

I am running OEM injectors right now, cause Tim had my RC-370's when i built the motor

Karl, was that a mechanical guage?

Thats good news if the pulsations are minimal.

Non liquid filled mechanical gauges will show fine pulsations best.

Thanks, was just wondering.
