valve pockets and os valves
If I run 1mm over size EX valves with JE 1287 pistons would I have to modify the piston to take the bigger valve or are they generally made with slightly larger pockets for os valves?

YOU "MUST" Specify the valve size! The reason I do not use JE is they missed by 0.004 to 0.009 on a few pockets and it was not a good thing either!

IN 33.39mm
EX 28.35mm
got a reply from JE stating the valve pocket diameters are
IN 37.084mm
EX 31.750mm
what do you mean by missed? how did you check?

thx brickman ...damn.... I wonder whats causing them to snap? Karl has had good luck with big cams. im just running 2 intakes, and carpenter springs. I may end up just sticking with stock sized valves and bronze seats.... what kind of performance gains were you told the big valves give?

Brickman, Ouch
What brand valves and springs are you using?
Do you run Nitrous?
Does it have Bronze seats?

i don't know what brand they are. carpenter has done all the work on it so who ever they use. i think bob said ape? but don't quote me on that. and #3 was the only one to have bronze seats. they were put in when it was fixed the first time.

oversize valves are only good if they are as shallow as they can be
sink them into the head & they wont flow anymore that what you took out
its better than your pistons are flycut for the valves youare using
its also a given that you will check that clearance on assembly
which means putting it together & taking it apart at least once
unless you have used that identical parts list b4
otherwise a tapped or broken valve will destrouy
the valves in that cylinder..... at least 1 piston
the head totally & possibly the crank...................................last but not least the cylinder block
no less with you running NOS in some ways not a good idea to increase valve size
you are really gaining HP on NOS not Volumetric efficiency
you ALWAYS want to stay OFF the rev limiter....................ALWAYS ! ! ! ! !
that causes the valves to tap dance off their seats
screws up the air fuel ratio inside any or all the cylinders
which will cause you some problem$
