I emailed Ryan Schnitz about them and he suggested I just use CR10EIX. the purpose being extended nitrous use in LSR events. I want to eliminate hot spots. I have been using CR10EK for drag racing, but Garys motor has me second guessing their use for LSR...
comments?

Excelent topic!!!!!! are the CR10EIX retracted gap? Or what is the difference? Thanks KZ.

Yeah, that'll be awsome to have you running a little LSR. Very addictive. Fingers crossed for a 2 mile paved venue!!!!

I dont think so Gary, but I couldnt really find a picture of them. I think they may just be iridium coated, and may be single electrode instead of the 2 that we see on "normal" pugs for our bikes.
2 miles... we really need a safe setup for that! maybe a 10 pound bottle too lol. I used 1 pound per run drag racing spraying from second gear on. the plan is to fit a 5 pounder next yr for more spray, and hopefully 2 passes out of a bottle instead of refilling a 2 pounder after every pass. i wonder if 5 pounds will last a 2 mile run?

Just buy a few sets of the OEM plugs and put a fresh set in before you go to the LSR or mile runs...

stock plugs are even worse than CR10EK. we are trying to eliminate the hot spots so the nitrous doesnt turn into a plasma cutter...

found a pic of the CR10EIX

the big electrode kinda rules them out too unless the iridium prevents it from getting hot.

Iridium and spray are fine. It's only the platinum plugs with the bonded platinum wafer contacts that pose a problem.

Why not use a surface discharge plug? Sure they're expensive, but so is detonation.

looking into all options Tim, preferably not too expensive, but yes a set of expensive plugs are cheaper than a new top end...

Well Scott, I would suggest being a little more conservative than that, especially with the 3 mill.

its not that they will be ruined by nitrous, its that they get too hot and can cause pre ingnition(or detonation.. one of them) and then your motor is junk...

Well Scott, I would suggest being a little more conservative than that, especially with the 3 mill.

but i have the 80 hp jets in allready lol. changing 8 jets in the air box isnt the most fun or speedy expirience, especially with stainless lines
i could put the 60hp jets back in, but i was thinking trying the 80 and just delaying the nitrous untill 4th gear or so for lsr starting out(leaving the small dry shot turned off). awhile back i talked to a guy running a 3 mill on a 120 shot for lsr. only problems he had were valves....

I would go with the surface discharge plugs like tcchin already posted. Sure they are 50 or 60 bucks a plug but that is a lot better than a new head and set of pistons.

Anybody have a picture of a surface discharge plug? For $200 I hope they last more than a few runs. Where do you get them fellas for a 12? I was thinking of useing Karl's previous method and just shoot the spark right to the piston!!!!!!
