nitrous questions/problems shifting

ok, back from the track. one of my goals for this wknd was to get wot rigfht after the launch. im getting better at that, but now my bike reaches for the sky. if i kinda feather it on(but still much more than previously) it was going much better. i ran a 9.35 that way on motor(previous best was 9.39). so i had to soften the launch. i was leaving at 7000 and wanted to keep that the same, so i removed some static (Nox told me i probly should last week) and i was getting better times, but i think i took out a bit too much. i also added 10 more pounds of weight to the front end (23 total now). that got me a 9.30, then a 9.28 with no wheelies, but its flashing the shift light right off the line, and it just tags the limiter before the arms start locking in. i wasnt really sure till a guy showed me a video he got at the line where it sputters just a bit. that or it was from the nitrous... which is another story
i had the 28 jet in the second stage ( dynotune dry kit) on schnitz, thats a 30 shot, but dynotune says 15. it worked pretty good, but it was before i reduced static, so that run had a big wheelie(starting to get WOT of the line now) i had to back out of in first. set it back down, shifted to second gear, nitrous turned on, ran a 9.04 @160. that run would have been low 8.9s or maybe high 8.8s if i had an ok launch. so im thinking that 3 mph gain is not 30 hp (since 60 hp picked up 12mph on my fogger system) so dynotune must be right, its 15hp. but maybe i was wrong??, but i changed jets in the second stage, and going by the dyno tune chart, i went to a 25hp jet (schnitz says 50) so it should be 85 hp total if dynotune is right, and 110 if schnitz is right. so i try it, but the first time i dont have bottle pressure up. only 750 psi, no time to heat it up, so i go try it out, and i dont have a great launch, hit the limiter in 2nd and manage to run a 914 @161. next pass, bottle is up to pressure, and i get huge bangs and sputters(guys told me i was shooting fire balls on each shift), and it only runs a 9.45. now the bike is making funny noises, which i believe is just an exhaust gasket blown to bits. thats what one of the guys working on a 57 chev promod thought . (very smart mechanic that builds a lot of nitrous cars for local guys, and circle track cars)
my biggest 2 questions are: was i running 85 or 110 hp worth of nitrous, and how do i get something to kill the injectors with my Schnitz kill box? if i can kill coils and injectors, i could probly get rid of that big bang on each shift. whats funny is i was showing rich for the entire run on the log file. most of the run was around 11.2:1 AFR, and JC told me 11.7:1 for a 100 shot
my kill time was set at 75ms, i normally run 65 on motor, no issues, and the only time i had issues shifting was my last run with both stages of nitrous working and bottle up to pressure. it shifted into gear fine (R&D trans) but lots of sputtering and big bangs on shifts

i was looking at a quick shifter, but im not too familiar with them, can i hook one up to kill injectors with my schnitz kill box killing coils and activating the switching valve/ air ram??

Nox, i didnt have to add weight to the arms, it held the mph (161) lol. i think i can back it down when i run all motor again, no wonder its bogging so bad and lifting the front end when the arms kick in....

if its just exhaust gaskets, how do i get them to stay in better? tougher material than the stock copper ones? i tightened them in so much i bent the brackets on the pipe allready....
if its just gaskets im trying the 80 hp jets in my fogger system, and leaving the second stage off to see what happens....

Kill the fire and get a bang or kill the fuel get a lean spike because you can't stop the nitrous fast enough during the shift. The more kill the more problems because the engine and exhaust are filling with fuel or nitrous during the kill.

i dont want to get rid of my coil kill, for fuel kill, i want to add fuel kill to my coil kill. there wouldnt be a lean spike, because nothing would be burning. but the cylinders wouldnt load up on fuel from the injectors, only from the wet kit. the motor doesnt go bang when its burning enough fuel for at least 180 hp, so if that amount of fuel was cut, and it was only getting enough fuel for 60-80 hp (wet kit) it shouldnt even come close to going bang right?

Good talking to you. Those truly are pretty good numbers with the set up you currently have.

Good shock, , a little wheel base.., and you will be gone.........

And, with the 330s you were turning, that thing is running hard on the back half, but I have turned back half numbers close to that, so you gotta be spinning pretty damn bad.......

thx for the help Nox, ill try to get my noise figured out, and then make the adjustments to the suspension and clutch. im thinking about getting spencer cycles to do my arm this winter so i can get to 68 inches, and ill check out getting the shock done at the same time.
oh yeah, its got top end. 161 mph is waaay different than 148. when the nitrous works, it WORKS! highly addictive stuff lol

im still not sure what hp my dry kit is making... i emailed dynotune...

anyone who has expirience with a quick shifter, plz chime in

and my problem WAS ex gaskets (thank god!) they areny big enough. i noticed this before, but i thought i had them in place. can i make my own out of thick copper (or aluminum?)or do they need to be hollow like the stock ones so they crush? if they fit tighter they could have a smaller diameter hole and not be restrictive....
#4 was the worst one
i also have some water leaks. this block was straight from APE too.....

the pipe wasnt actually on the gasket. just beside it between the arrows. that section is not crushed at all. red circle shows where pipe was. the gasket has too much room to move around. its OD is a lot smaller than the ID of the machined circle in the head where the pipe goes. enough for it to be able to move around enough so that the pipe doesnt match up with it

8.8s should be hit next trip to the track if everything goes smooth. i was previously getting 9.40s on motor and 9.0s on spray after a bit more of a clutch tweak, i think its possible. i got to 9.28, on motor, and i think 9.20 is very possible

I think i fixed my problem. but i havent fired it up yet(rad still off)
its easier to see in this pic, the pipe wasnt on the whole gasket. im suprised it sealed as long as it did.

(this gasket was actually cleaned, the area that wasnt crushed had black on it from the leak)
i noticed the gaskets have a little bit of movement when they go in the head, but not really enough to cause problems lining up. the main problem is the muzzy header is about 1.5mm smaller OD where it fits into the head. this was allowing individual pipes to be way off center. i cut some strips of copper to fit around the header pipes to center them. it worked great, barely any wiggle room to spreak of. i stacked 2 used ex gaskets for each pipe, held in with a bunch of grease, and the put in the strips (also greased in place). the header bolted on with much less struggle, so that in itself was worth the time.

Im thinking im going to try the 80 hp jets in the wet kit this wknd coming and see how that works by itself. leaving the dry kit off. it wasnt coming up in second with the extra 15 pounds compared to the first wknd running just the 60 shot. i may try the small jet in the dry kit if everything goes well and its running really rich, but ill probly just have time for some motor passes to fine tune the clutch, then run 2-3 nitrous runs. im going to try turning the kill time back to 65ms again too. I cranked my rear spring down the rest of the way (probly 3/16) and went to the fully hard setting on the compression (only a few clicks change) . thats as good as i can get untill i get a longer arm and a drag shock and or a link pro. hopefully it wont rub the undertail any more

i tightened up the plugs in the block too. you can see the water marksin the post above. so if you ever get a block back from APE or where ever, dont assume the plugs are tight!
I actually had the track record ET for a street bike without bars untill last wknd. a few yrs ago a guy ran a 9.06 @ around 155 on a 1270cc 12 with probly a hit of nitrous (nobody knew it was a 1270 till he sold it after 2 yrs of racing it and saying it was stock) then a week after i ran the 9.02 @157 a guy on a nitrous 14 ran a 8.91. so i gotta get into the 8.8s to get my record back lol. the guy on the 14 has been racing for probly over 10 yrs tho, and i have about 25 pounds on him.

some pics from the other wknd:

i need to work on my tuck big time, but the new(to me) seat from Shane should help compared to the cut stock seat i was using. thx Shane
