auto shift or shift light with big nitrous?
it JUST occured to me that my shift light trouble may have been linked to my efir/data logger problem, so i ran out and hooked it back up and presto, it works great. now what do i want? a shift light, or an auto shift box? im trying 90 hp worth of nitrous, if i spin, will it try to shift a bunch of times if its an auto??? im thinking i should just set it up as a shift light for now (heads up wknd) and as an auto shifter for bracket racing on motor....

Risky......., but, even with manual shifting with the button, if it spins, it wont shift..........., even with a cut tranny......., but it helps.........
I have unloaded my rear and spun enough that it did not shift......., even with my built tranny......

Some of the autoshift boxes have a delay so they don't double shift if you spin.

Do you have a window switch on the nitrous? If so, how far below the limiter do you shut off the spray?

its not the double shift......, its the not shifting and going to the limiter......., thats the big issue......

He asked if an auto will keep trying to shift if he spins and yes it will with an auto shift without the built in delay. As long as the rpm is above the set shift point it will keep shifting. You have the be careful with the shiftminder if you try to use it for auto shifting. It doesn't hold the signal to your switching valve long enough for it to shift every time. I had one on my old bike and it worked great on a stock GSXR1100. When I built the engine it would not shift all the time even with a R&D transmission.

I didn't go with an auto shift after that, just button shifted with a shift light. Wish I could remember who I talked with about the auto shifter they explained to me why the shiftminder wasn't working for me. Go to theSchnitz or MPS site, I think they have some information on the auto shift boxes.

Man I tested mine tonight and it is the sh*#!!! Probably an installation set up problem, they can get complex cause directions are on disk, I printed mine so I could read pages as I was on the bike. Let me know if you need help with set up if you one cause you will get the unit set up for a 14. Hell I will tell you how it goes now!!! Blue wire off of harness goes to the all black wire off of the clutch switch. Black wire in same wrap as blue wire goes to a good ground. Tach signal is simple as unit comes with a in line coil plug set up. Last but not least the autoshift, make sure you put this on a switch otherwise it will destroy your trans. I highly suggest that you hook autoshift up last after you make sure light is on par. Autoshift connects ground so make sure your air shift button connects ground. I have a extra tail off of my ground connect off of my push button that is on a switch. Tested tonight bike shifted at 11,400 auto no problem. Remember all settings should be set with bike in gear and kickstand up. Launch circuit needs to be set with clutch pulled in. Let me know how it goes!!!
