You should hold the mcr, and the shinko in your hands at the same time, and you will know what I am talking about.

Back two years ago, i ran 123 and 124 in the 1/8 mile, at 64 inches, with no pc, and a brock pipe, but I had a mcr on the back.

I think I may test on of these Pilots in the off season, or here in the near future........

cant get my hands on one to test this weekend though, or I would test one this Sat.

if you have a road track near you, go to a track day and see if you can find some Take off's. I know a guy that got a pilot race that had like 10 laps on it for 45 bucks a couple of weeks ago.

I take mine off before that, and sell them to a friend. For what they cost, i would hate to lose a 1000 dollar final, over 75 dollars.....

You talking about the pics I posted on psychobike, or did someone else take some?

I do currently have the 180/55 Shinko. I was running 10 psi due to the starting line being marginal in Houston. Usually run 11-14 psi with the Shinko 180.

These are some pics I took when I had the Michelin 180. Looking back, I had 160 passes on the Michelin, and could have easily had 200 passes. The Michelin doesn't need a long burnout at all, thats why it lasts so long. Was running 15-20 psi with the Michelin at 69" wheelbase. I am going back to the Michelin 180.

Me launching on the Michelin 180...

This is a video of my boy launching with the 180 Michelin at 67" wheelbase...

Thanks Patrick for the pics.

I will be trying out a 180 soon. I did not want to change two things at once, as I have the new AMSOIL Dominator in my bike now, wanted to see how it picked up over the regular AMSOIL I was running. We have two tracks here, within two hours, one, that michelin would never work at with a profile like that..........., the other, where this 5.90 race is this weekend, it would work just fine..........

I saw the dragtec in action a couple of weeks ago. I was not impressed. Truly is too bad they did not go with the original design.

Congrats on your win.

Nox, believe and trust me when I tell you this....the Michelin sticks like glue. Forget how the profile looks. I said the same thing you are saying, until I tried it. I never...and I mean NEVER, spun off the line at any track with the Michelin. Thats just the cold hard truth.
I'm not a dealer of Michelin's, so I'm not just saying that to sell them. They really do work.

I can say that the dragtek hooks like crazy, also the dragtek has been 7.54 @ 194mph on the NLR GSXR1000. Cycle Concept has a good deal on them right now. If you do go to a 180 tire you will need atleast one more tooth on the rear as the 180 is taller then the 190 even with the wide rim. Also the 180 is ok with low pressure, I have run them at 9-10lbs.

Patrick, I am not worried about he starting line, I am worred about the other parts of the track.......

My bike will hook in a car wash. I turn the rim in the tire every pass...........

You have the luxury of running on good tracks. We have one here that is VERY loose, but has some good money races at times..........., I need something that works everywhere, and puts a big footprint down......

You will not run from 330 on at this track like you do at others, we have proven it over and over, and guys with data loggers have shown it..............

Well if you listen closely after that pass, you will here he went 8.934 on a 8.93 dial. And just because we launch our 14's under 3K RPM's, doesn't mean its a 'soft' launch as you say. The 14 has so much torque, there's no need to launch any higher like you have to with a ZX-12.

If your track is as bad as you say past the 330, then likely the only tire that will work is a flat slick. I can't say anything more about the Michelin that I haven't said already. I tell you what, buy a Michelin 180 soft, and if you don't like it, I'll buy it from you minus how much wear you've taken off if it. Deal?

What I meant was, it was not a arm wrenching launch, the starting line, especially with a hydraulic clutch, is soft.........

When the power got to the tire, the tire slipped. Thats all I am saying.

If the tire had hooked, he would have broken out...........

I am just stating what I am seeing.........

We get it done on the top, but it takes a good shock, and some special knowledge to get it done.........., it just slips a hair, not bad, but yes, the 7 inch slick works good, of coarse......, but is not legal in most classes..........

Jack has sent me some info on the tire, I know that his track is loose, I am still looking, I may try one.........., but not this weekend with 750 to win on the line...........

You should come up and run ............

More payout than anyone else in the area is paying........

Gotta work this weekend, can't make it.

One thing to note on that pass was that there were no cars racing that day, and only about 40 bikes, most of them being street bikes. Starting line was garbage. I guarantee a Shinko on that bike would have blew the tire away on the launch. Instead all it did was slip a hair. There was no slipping on the top end either.

When you decide to try the Michelin, make sure you get the right one. And don't overdo the burnout, it doesn't need much. It will hook great brand new, and will hook better as it gets worn in.

There's the Hurricane Alley race on November 1st at Houston that will have a 9.00 index class. And then there's a make-up race on November 2nd too. Try to make it if you can and bring your boys too.

Nov 1st there is a race here, with more money guranteed, than the HAR race, 5.90 index. All the guys will be at this race. They already took home all of the KOTT money from the last race.

I want to get into that 9.00, just to far away this year.

My bike would have hooked on that track, and I would have turned the rim inside the tire............., and with my new shock, it would have held out past the 60, even with the shinko.........

I know its always loose down there with the bike races, thats why I want something that works.

Good luck Nov 1st.

I rather the thrill of going 150 MPH, catching a slower bike on the top end, or the thrill of having a low 8 second bike trying to catch me on the top end.

To me, 8th mile is boring, shifting 3 times and that's it. Everybody has their own opinion though, I just prefer 1/4 mile racing.

Getting back to the Hurricane Alley Series, yea maybe your race pays a little more, but you have one class and that's it.

We have Street ET, Pro ET, Quick 16, 9.50 index, 9.00 index, and more. Minimum purse for each is $500 with only 3 bike count. I'd rather run 2-3 classes and increase my chances of winning.

I checked the Amsoil site, and all I see is Dominator for 2-strokes engines. Do you have the link for the Dominator oil for 4-stroke motorcycles?

Let me know how it works. No doubt its a good racing oil, but I don't see anything in the decription about it being for motorcycles or anything about wet clutch applications like the regular motorcycle oil states as seen here:
Provides Excellent Wet Clutch Performance
AMSOIL MCF contains no friction modifiers and promotes smooth shifting and positive clutch engagement. AMSOIL MCF controls heat and prevents slippage and glazing, helping improve clutch life. AMSOIL Synthetic 10W-40 Motorcycle Oil meets the wet clutch frictional requirements of JASO Standard T903: 2006, MA/MA2 and ISO-L-EMA2 of ISO Standard 24254:2007.

I have never run motorcycle oil in my bike.

Until switching to AMSOIL 5w30, I always ran Royal Purple Racing 11 or Racing 21.

I had the normal car oil in mine. None of us here run motorcycle oil. For a street driven motorcycle, I might say yes, especially some that have crappy clutches, ie , cruisers.....,

Every company makes a motorcycle oil, RP included. Thats not whats run in the race engines though. If motorcycle oil was better, Pro Stock bike would use motorcycle oil.

You will not have any issues........

I am switching purely based on the testing that the Dominator oils have shown faster track times, and is supposed to make more power.

Basically the same as the Racing 21 vs the normal 5w30 in the Royal Purple oils.
