LM-1 Problems!
last night everything was going great, i fine tuned the fuel map in the lower range a bit, and for the launch rpm. much smoother. basically ran the bike dry of 87 octane. it was flashing at me for fuel for quite awhile. today, i put in half a tank of 91 to get ready for nitrous, fire the bike up, its running like like shit, i play around with mapping, going back to what i had before last night, cant really solve anything. finally i try turning the LM-1 off. bingo! the bike is smooth again, so i put in my map from last night, better still (just like last night) hold bike at 7000 (launch rpm) smooth. turn on lm 1 choppy surgy. WTF? i noticed last night the tps reading was choppy, and rpm was a little off with the power commander. today the problem has spread into the bike. i changed the plugs for a fresh set, and they all looked pretty good except for #3 which was still fine imo. im grounding the lm1 to the neg terminal of the battery, but i added a bunch of stuff to that ground(ground wires from nitrous stuff). could that be messing it up? maybe theres a pinched wire? is it possible that i need a diode for the lm1 now that theres are more wires going to ground?

does the same thing when its on the charger(and after its fully charged, and on trickle), so no. good idea though
i tried the diode. no change
tried ecu ground black yellow wire, i believe its pin 60, the same one my bonny box is grounded to, no change
next im going to unplug the lma2 box and see if it will work with just the 02 sensor. if so, ill add the rest of the inputs one at a time to see if one of them is the problem...
i was supposed to be at the track by now, but i just checked the track website and the races were cancelled due to rain(tomorrow), so i have the wknd to figure it out.

with the lma2 unplugged and just the sensor plugged in, its running bad again, with the o2 sensor wire unplugged and the LMA2 wire plugged in, it works fine. i cant see the other inputs thru log works tho as it just tells me the heater is open (error 2)
i unplugged the big plug in the middle that connects the sensor to the lm1 and plugged in the short piece to the lm1. i get the same error code, heater open, but now the bike runs like shit again. found a spot where the wire appeared to be pinched by the tank, but after removing the insulation, the wires on the inside had no visable damage. i ran 12v thru each one and they all checked out, none were shorted together, which greatly suprised me. the wire checks out, but when its plugged in, the bike runs badly, even tho its not even connected to the o2 sensor

You "MAY Be pulling too much Juice (Amps) from the Battery The Oxygen sensor takes quite a few amps then ann in the selenoids and you may have more than the 14 AMH Battery can Handle. I Use a 20 AMH BaTTERY Takes a lirrle modification but it fits. Two verify try running 12 guage wire from a Car Battery to the bike battery or very small Gauge Jumper cables and bypass the Bike Battery?
Better yet find out the draw of everything add it up and if more than 12 to 14 AMPS and you have a Battery that is not mint and you solved the problem (I think)

hey Vincent, i had the charger on the battery during some of the tests with no change. it was on the 12v 15a setting is this a good test, or do i need an actual battery? (because a charger pulses right?).
the nitrous solenoids were off (master toggle switch to relay and secondary fuel pump) the only added electronic device that was on was the rpm window switch, but it wasnt activating anything as the bike wasnt in gear. i cant see it drawing much power.
you do have me worried that i wont have enough battery to run everything now though. its the battery that came in the bike when i got it in december 06, and im not sure how old it was then..... i have a lot of electronics. im not sure how to find out how much power they need though
PC3R
EFIR-12
Schnits PPI (kill box)
switching valve (air shifter)
Schnitz rpm window switch
NOS fuel pump
NOS fuel solenoid
NOS nitrous solenoid
LM-1 with LMA-2 (rpm converter)
i still dont understand how it went from working one night to not working the next morning when all i did was put gas in the tank
will any 20AMH battery work if it fits? where would i get the best one? hopefully i can get it before next wknd for testing...)races on the wknd!)

ok, i got it sorted out (i think) heres what i had to go thru
i bought a new battery ($95) "Durabatt" YTX20L-BS 12V, 18Ah. it was the biggest one at the dealership. i cut and trimmed the battery tray, and wedged it in. it just barely fits. i dont even have the cover on yet, so more tweaking may need to be done. started bike. problem still there, and now there when data loggere isnt on. WTF? it got worse.... i think "battery must be low" so i put it on trickle charge for a night(when the data logger is on it gives me a low voltage error when its acting up) . next day, same thing. so i decide im going to rip all my electronics off and run them on the stock battery. before i do that i cut out an aluminum box and bend it so i can hang the battery off of the swingarm. since ill only use tig welds on aluminum now i had to make it out of one piece. took some time to get it to fit right. that was the end of that day, so tonight i try hooking the batterys together before i go ripping wiring apart. it does the same thing with 2 fully charged batteries. so i start taking electronics off (i should have started here in the first place) data logger unplugged, kill box unplugged, no change, unplug efir from the crank sensor ang BINGO the bike runs as good as ever. immediatly i think "it must have been damaged from its trip from Austria"(Woppi would never rip a guy off, hes good ppl). i turn on everything. fan, NOS fuel pump, data logger, everything runs great, take off second battery, no change perfect! plug in efir. bike runs just fine. "wohoo must have been a loose connection!!!" so everything works, and runs off of the new big battery just fine. im betting it all would have run off of the stock battery but now that the big one is in, its staying. extra power can be used to run the fan longer(if i can get the battery cover on). i put dielectric grease on the efir plugs, they were slightly oily from a leaking clutch gasket from a few weeks ago. hopefully everything will be ok.
im putting the bike together and going to the track in the morning. trying out a new clutch setup, and if i get that lined out ok, i may try a couple nitrous passes. i didnt get the stainless lines made, so im just going to empty the 2 lb bottle (probly 2 runs in it) and if i like what i see on the logs, ill try lots more(passes) next wknd with the hard lines
i hate electrical problems....so frustrating... but its sooo nice to hear the bike running smooth again.

damn... the efir is bad. its an intermittient problem, but its messing upo the bike. i tried cleaning the connections, but nothing worked. the bike runs like a top without it, and like shit with it most of the time

FOUND the problem! the efior had a pinched wire (my fault) and was grounding out. i fixed it and everything works just the way its supposed to
