Well I got a hold of Chris today and learned a lot.Even though he is running a big shot,he still uses the stock head bolts. He recommended I remove the stud which is pulling the threads, so it will be an even clamp, and put in a heli-coil. Also,he said he only tightens the studs finger tight in the case and if it bottoms out to back it off a little. As far as the head gasket,he says he only gets a couple of passes out of the Cometic head gasket. The center sheet will start to flutter in between the cylinders and burn out.He found a different Cometic gasket that lasts the whole season. He told me to request the 87mm HP gasket and several of them. The difference is the HP has 4 sheets instead of the regular three. The dude took the time to call back at 9:45pm still working at his shop.Thats busy! thanx for the help Karl and Chris if you read this.

If you have ruined any of your case threads I would STRONGLY Suggest you not helicoil them! Use a "Time Sert" They are syncronized threaded insert the same thickness as the Helicoil but onw solid piece! This way you are pulling on over an inch of threads all at one time!

I looked that up VH and it says it has a flange on the top. That means I would have to counter sink the time sert to not mess with the block mating surface.I'll have to see how much room is on the case.

They inchude the special tool to sink them BUT Saying that in cases where I could not or did not have the toom for the Lip, I used the Dremel thin Fiberglass Disc and cut the 1/16 inch thick lip off! Used Red or Green Loctite to install them! The way they work is the tool you use to install them finishes the last 2 or 3 rounds of threads which swedges the Sert into the case. Since there will be no lip to stop the turning of the sert, it will allow the sert to go a few turns deeper into the case before the sert stops turning and the tool locks it in place. There is just nothing I know of that will work any better than this! I used this on the 1976 Porsche 911s that had a Magnesium Case and was always pulling out the Head Studs. In some cases I had to use the "Big Sert" because they already had 2 rows of Helicoils in the caseBuy the small 10 MM Kit and you may want to use Stainless Serts!

Karl, tell me that you do not know about Time Serts? Here is a small Kit (Meaning that it is for 1 size of thread repair as opposed to many!

Who said he was not already?? Karl, I got into these back in the day of the Super Bike Racing and the KZ1000 Engines! The Cylinders were lifting on top end specially at Daytona and Talledega where you were at top speed so long! What makes them better is they take up exactly the same space but different from Helicoils that pull 1 thread at a time and suffer the elements, thense pull the entire length of the Sert and are sealed off from the elements (Like Oil, Gasoline, water which causes the corrission)
Try it you will like it!
